I tried quitting coffee once. I was unable to feel stress. That sounds nice, but it's not so nice when you're staring at your alarm clock, realizing you're late for something, and not feeling any jolt from it. That felt trippy in a bad way, knowing I should be feeling a jolt of stress or adrenaline or something but it never comes.

Haywire3 is playing baseball this year, and tonight was his first game. It's coach pitch, which is sort of baseball lite, and the whole team gets to bat each inning. If they get tagged out, they're out, but otherwise, they run the bases like normal. All of his teammates that didn't get tagged out ran across home like normal, but not Haywire3, oh no. Despite the ball being nowhere near him, he had to slide for home on both runs. Gotta love the enthusiasm!

Chocolate jello on vanilla ice cream is heavenly...

Mine was Rasberry with Vanillia and it was GREAT, first time in years that I had this combo as my mum use to make Jelly when I was younger but no longer, I picked up the Jelly the other day as a six pack pots, then got the Ice cream today after a reminder by a Co-worker of mine about the combo

Alright, so I broke down six months worth of large boxes, built the fire pit and placed it outside on the deck. We're ready for at least one run to the eco center to recycle that mass of cardboard. There's a large volume of electronic scrap to go as well, but it's not a priority right now.

I'm going to enjoy my cup of tea, get some big boy pants on, run to my brothers to steal some pavers (To place under the fire pit.) and then I have to pick up my sister and take her and my mother to a funeral.

While the day isn't done yet, it's nice to have a plan that's fairly immutable.

Never mind. Immutable isn't a thing. Not getting the pavers today.

Edit: alright, took longer into the afternoon than I wanted: but I did manage to steal the concrete and get the fire pit properly set. Now all we need is wood and we can have us a backyard fire.

So I haven't managed to wrap up my apparently annual code enforcement headache. And I hoped to have it all done this week, so that's a bummer. Material delays, malfunctioning equipment, and uncooperative weather all conspired to ruin my week.

But I've still gotten enough done that the city code inspector is kinda freaked out. Today I tried telling him my plan for the remaining steps and he told me to please not. He can't close out the case until it's actually done, but there's time. I don't need to work like I'm working.

If that's what he wants then okay!

Watching the latest ep of Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun made me happy

It was a GREAT ep, the people behind it, clearly put a lot of effort into it as its a musical ep where the Mistfit class has to put on a show and a musical preformance in front of their teachers and fellow students, plus three judges from outside of the school

Took my 6yr old to one of those indoor play centres for a playdate yesterday. It's one of the ones with a little gaming area where the kids can win tickets to redeem for prizes. Basically a kid's casino. While in there, I found two game tokens on the floor, and used them in this one pirate-themed game where you spin a wheel and try to land on a high number, and that's how many tickets you get. The highest score you can hit is 500 tickets, and...

Today I received my quarterly sales report from my publisher, and in Q1 2026 (January to March) my book sold seven ebook copies. Hardly major figures and, frankly, I make pennies per book sold... but considering the book is now six years old, the fact people are still buying it at all makes me pretty happy.

Today I got about half way through the restoration of the wooden bench from the front deck. The boards are sanded, the arms and legs got the rust ground off them. I need to stain, paint, and buy some new hardware to remount the whole thing. But the hardest parts are done.

I've been growing venus flytraps for a while, mostly in terrarium tanks, but I decided to do something bigger, using a large cracked ceramic bathtub, sealing it, filling it with sand and peat, and making a giant outdoor venus flytrap planter that doubles as an outdoor umbrella stand. It survived the winter and the plants are starting to leaf out and look good!

Though in hindsight, I probably should have used less quicksand in the bug arena's potting mix. The lawn gnomes don't seem to be handling it well.

Eventually I hope I will have what I have in some of the tanks where the plants entirely cover the floor in miniature but fully functional death traps.

Work on that house is projected to be done in seven days. If the city is satisfied and leaves me alone, I can sell it and be done with that nightmare.
