Kinda reminds me of how I've seen a few times a suggestion for a 'Playground Yu-Gi-Oh' format AKA a format based around the simplified way a lot of people played YGO as kids and it's like...OK yeah you could make a format with rules based on what were the most common 'playground rules' (stuff like don't need to tribute to summon a level 5 and above monster, all extra deck monsters are just in your deck with no extra deck, you can activate trap cards the same turn, etc.) but you're not gonna be able to recreate the actual childhood YGO experience because we're not a children anymore. A meta will form, top tier decks will exist, there will be strategies and combos and everything else people might think shouldn't exist in a 'playground format'.
Cause just having playground YGO rules isn't enough, you also need all the players to be children with a lack of understanding of the game + a lack of knowledge on how to build a deck because no kid was making some super optimised archetype-based deck. You had a starter deck your parents bought for you and then some booster packs you bought with your allowance or whatever and you just put what cards you thought were cool/strong together to make your totally jank deck.
