If I could only have one, I'd want a B.A.T.

Two? General Hawk.

Then maybe Flint and Lady Jaye. Possibly Sergeant Slaughter.

Okay, I could probably fill a shelf, if I had one and the money and was so inclined.

My interest in Classified cratered after being unable to get either Pythona or Nemesis Enforcer. I’m still getting the odd one that interests me…but not being able to get the Cobra La characters took a LOT of the wind, especially when Super7 was doing it’s retro o-ring thing.
All said, I’m pretty good on my Classified pick ups. Scoop is pretty much the only character I’m really left pinning for. Though, wacky stuff like Professor Rottclaw/Paleo Viper or Sundown are apt to be pick ups at some point. The fantastic Hydro Viper wasn’t top of my list…but, I mean, LOOK AT IT!

Makes me sad that Lenny is leaving Hasbro and the Joe brand. I really get the feeling he was a BIG driving force in much of the stylistic direction that has made the last few years of Classifed so damned impressive. He really put a lot of work into the “little details” that really elevated the offerings, as a whole. His exit was just announced, so I figure we got another year of stuff with his “finger prints” on it.

I'm confident that whoever replaces Lenny will try to continue this direction, because it's obviously working. Classified is a real success. There's no way management hasn't noticed.

I can throw in an anecdote. I never paid the slightest bit of attention to G.I. Joe as a kid. I'm dipping my toes in the water finally learning about it solely because Classified stuff keeps catching my attention when I'm posting the weekly BBTS newsletter. Iron Grenadier B.A.T. was the "Okay, I need to know" turning point for me.

Yes BBTS, I do read those newsletters when I post them, and when I sound excited about something in particular I really do mean it, and want my friends to understand that I mean it.

I discovered something novel:
So, the Amazon Prime FAST channel, Hasbro Legends, has been cycling through both the Sunbow and DiC GI Joe series. I turned it on tonight and found something interesting with their version of Operation: Dragonfire. It’s actually a weird “chimera” of the two versions that I know that exist.

It seems to have the modified “International Heroes” Sunbow opening and different music tracks from the original airing (which I recorded and watched a LOT). But it also ditches the commercial bumpers, had some animation corrections (notable in episode 2), and the “next day” preview is noticeably truncated.
When the DiC run was put on DVD, that version of Operation: Dragonfire was from the syndication package, which had the animation corrections, but swapped out the commercial bumpers with the intro, outro, and music tracks all changed to reflect the broader ”Season 1” of DiC episodes.

I'm still just barely learning about this, but one thing I'm liking so far is Cobra Commander comes across as a villain who thinks he's the hero despite being so obviously villainous in nearly every way. He's a monster. He outwardly displays no redeeming qualities as a person whatsoever. His methods are intolerable. His competence is questionable. He's obviously the villain. He cannot rule the world. He has to be stopped.

But I get the feeling he would prefer if it went well and he could say he told us so. Nothing would make him happier than hearing us admit he's doing a good job and we actually like it.

I'll have to take your word for it because I haven't seen much yet.

I'm just getting a vibe. It wouldn't be about being loved; it would be about being right.
