Maybe in another 20 years we'll get another chance at what this could have been.

I swear, some people really do act like Transformers is a toyline based on a cartoon rather than the other way around....
I'm happy to accept that some of the old Diaclone molds may not be possible to "just add better joints" (in line with my own expectations). Just do the molds that you can, instead, rather than... whatever ML Ironhide thinks it's doing.
It is only with this image that I realized... they can't even do the "take a photo of the ML toy in the pose of the original artwork" that used to be a thing with ML promotions.
But enough about the current Transformers design team.
So, when do we get a Missing Link of this guy?
But it will have to be renamed "Missing Llink."

If they did it, they should name him Kuzcotron.
It would be cool to finally get this guy in G1, but I learned about it from the Armada comic, so there's a part of me that would rather have an Armada version with a Minicon...
A neutral pose really helps sell the comparison.
Aside from the missing sled it just looks like a better version of the toy. That did get me to thinking though. Ratchet *does* have the sled in the cartoon. What if the plan all along was this better version first and then Ratchet gets something more akin to the original toy with increased articulation (and sled). They then could get another 3-4 versions out of the two molds for differing versions of Ironhide, Ratchet, DKGuard, etc

This is a useless comparison. The original next to the ML one in Diaclone robot mode would be more helpful.
If it weren't for the chrome and painted leg details, you might convince me they dug up a canceled Generations design from 2011. I might have forgiven the concept if they nailed it but it still doesn't look like a Diaclone design. The limbs are just too Sunbow coded. NOTHING on this toy should look like they had knowledge of the toon.
