I’m broadly in agreement with the last few peeps. There isn’t enough “jank” to the design like we would have seen in the 80s. In some respects, it’s too close to the Sunbow model relative to the liberties that were being taken with most other Diaclone designs. It’s clearly designed with more modern articulation in mind, not a stumpy robot toy that they have to stealthily incorporate articulation points. Even the “retro robot mode” comes across more as a secondary concern.
It’s novel, sure, but I almost think some janky “use the battle sled to fill out the old robot mode” idea I had would have been more “on concept”, even if it didn’t turn out as good a looking on its own.
