I’m broadly in agreement with the last few peeps. There isn’t enough “jank” to the design like we would have seen in the 80s. In some respects, it’s too close to the Sunbow model relative to the liberties that were being taken with most other Diaclone designs. It’s clearly designed with more modern articulation in mind, not a stumpy robot toy that they have to stealthily incorporate articulation points. Even the “retro robot mode” comes across more as a secondary concern.

It’s novel, sure, but I almost think some janky “use the battle sled to fill out the old robot mode” idea I had would have been more “on concept”, even if it didn’t turn out as good a looking on its own.

I made the mistake of looking at other sites while we were offline last night and my blood pressure still has not recovered. Some [MANY WORDS REMOVED] actually pulled the "Why would you even want the sled? It wasn't in the cartoon." card.

I can't be rational about this now. I am pissed.

me when i'm in a 'missing the point' competition and my opponent is a person not understanding why people want toy accessories in the 'remake G1 toys' toyline

It's one reason why I barely engage with any fandom groups outside the Allspark anymore. Here, disagreement and divergent opinions exist, but (not to jinx it) it's quite rare these days that it happens based on someone being straight-up stupid. And when it does it's usually just me and that's easier to manage.

I swear when I finally get out of this estate nightmare and have money again I am buying this place a server. I swear to hugging God I will buy this place a stupidly overkill IBM enterprise server so we never go offline again. I need the sanity of this place.

And technically, Ironhide's was kept inside his vehicle mode when he had Bumblebee use his sled's cannon in Episode 2:

I do wonder if later on they’ll do *another* one that’s more inline with expectations.

You really just need to add a couple joints, have the shoulder assembly move up, add an attach point for the sled on the back and fit a head somewhere.

I don't buy much anymore. I'm barely alive. I absolutely would have found a way to buy Missing Link Ironhide in Diaclone colors. I do actually want that. Missing Link has included Diaclone style drivers since day one for some reason, so this is the one* line where the design would work as envisioned.

But as much as I wanted that, if they had to do something different, the modular concept discussed here was interesting enough that I still might have gone for it. Hasbro, take notes. There's a brilliant idea there. Having Ironhide combine with the sled in both modes could be fun evolution of the original concept, not a total loss of it.



*One line today, anyway. They really should have done a Titans Return Ironhide. Am I the only one who sees the opportunity there?

I think this might have been a feasible Voyager concept if they had started from scratch instead of reskinning the Siege Ironhide design.
