Masterpiece Theater: the MP thread

I don't understand how you make a Masterpiece of a character that looks exactly like another character by making it the wrong color.

That torso block is still way too low and saggy.

How did all of her Generations-styled toys get that right but not the MP?

I think I'll do that come next paycheck. Might throw a few more things in that box too.
Unfortunately the price is closer to Hasbro's price now. When I pre-ordered it I paid $150 plus shipping but now it's $170.

So things came up and I didn't order from ShowZ. But in addition to LeoKaiser coming, apparently MP Prime is too. Got the 'we're shipping this week' notice.

Yay. But man the timing. . . .

And he's here! Haven't had the chance to do much but enjoy the packaging. He came in the black "this is a japanese release, but we're releasing it" box that the last few exclusives I've gotten from Pulse have come in. But in that is what appears to be the standard japanese release box.

I love that the instructions show him using accessories and items that come with other releases. The display stands that came with the trainbots. The trailer that came with another MP Prime release.

That said, I love his accessories. I really like the siege inspired shield/axe. I think I prefer that axe to the orange energy axe. Personal preference. The blades are also a really nice touch. I love that this release takes these cues from various Primes from other continuities and pairs it with a very poseable and good looking G1 version. I think this has the potential to be my new favorite Prime. Striker Manus has been the only other one to really come close to what this one does.

I really like how his design is primarily G1, but with modern cues blended in. The accessories are a cool touch, too. I've watched a few reviews and it does look satisfyingly non-fussy to transform. I don't collect MP anymore (that train sailed a long time ago) but if I did, I would snap this up in a heartbeat.

Honestly, that's the best part. No 30 minute transformation sequence, no super fiddly parts, no insanely complex or ridiculously hard to line up bits. Just solid transformation design that doesn't drive you nuts trying to figure out or get just right.

Looks like we getting MPs of Blaster and the Predacon version of Rhinox from the episode "Dark Designs", but given a new toy-accurate head for some reason.

I don't really care about Blaster, but I'd love to get the cassettes. Naturally, he comes with my favorite of the group. And I'm assuming Rewind will come with the inevitable Twincast.
