Now I wanna see Siege Jetfire done up as BotCon 2007 Classics Dreadwind and AOTP Silverbolt as Universe 2008 Darkwind.

And then see fans try to figure out how to combine them together in jet mode like they did with the Classics and Universe toys.

A lot of Classics could be improved just by removing the dumb articulation choices that some designer apparently just preferred for reasons he alone knows. Like the insistence on putting leg swivels below the knee.

Looks like the whole back of Cliffjumper is new, not just the spoiler. I realized the pics show the gun not hugely hanging off one side, so the slot for it must be offset somehow compared to Bumblebee.

All this presumably partly facetious talk of Classics homaging isn't doing much for me, but I actually would love a redone Classics Jetfire that had decent leg articulation. Now that I've largely had the "cartoon Skyfire model" desire addressed, I can turn my attention to the other cool designs that deserve a redo. Even the Titanium Jetfire from "The War Within" might be cool to see a better take on.

Also if we're getting a Sunstorm I'd rather it be from the upsized classics Seeker mold, please. Put it in Studio Series with the other comic-y takes.

Is there anything particularly wrong with Titanium Jetfire? That's one I haven't added to my Titanium collection yet.

I'll have them all someday.

Just that it's limited by the particulars of that line. It was a pretty solid design for what all that, but it might turn out better without the diecast construction and size/parts count limits, leading to a more cohesive altmode.

The wing/jetpack assembly never wanted to stay attached on my copy. Otherwise, it was a decent rendition for the time.

Wait, Cliffjumper was in Devastation?!?
I don't think so, but Devastation Bumblebee's design was based on Classics '06 Bumblebee. So the Devastation 'Bee figure that just came out works as an update on Classics Bumblebee. And since Classics Cliffjumper was a simple repaint of Classics Bumblebee, a Cliffjumper repaint of Devastation Bumblebee would make for a nice update of his Classics figure.

Personally? I think Devastation Bumblebee blows Studio Series '86 Bumblebee out of the water. I have no interest in either (Netflix Bumblebee is all I need), but of the two Devastation has much more attractive proportions than SS '86.

I had thought that Cliffjumper was the DLC Bumblebee Skin, but no seems like it was Goldbug.

But regardlless, yeah. I want them to do him a Classics Cliffjumper becuase 1. I really like the mold having it, SS86, and Retro I think its the best of the three. 2. I really like Classic Cliffjumper's deco aand 3. He can go on my SG shelf :p

New photos have Cyclonus looking a similar lavender to Kingdom, possibly a little more saturated. Don't see the difference with the retooled new legs though. Is it the thighs as a strictly for height thing? I'd have preferred some way to give him less blocky shins and/or actual feet instead.

When it comes to retooling…if it’s not obvious, it probably wasn’t worth the expense to partake, IMO.

I mean, I could tell they changed the face, but I had to bring up an image of the original release to nail the EXACT changes…even then…it’s like when Star Wars fans fussed for YEARS about how Hasbro handled Sandtroopers: For years, Hasbro simply addressed Sandtroopers as “Stormtroopers with pauldrons and long rifles in a dirty deco”. But there were fans that bitched for years because they weren’t screen accurate (the costumes in Tunisia WERE slightly different from the Pinewood costumes).

I don’t know…as a franchise, there has always been a slight deviation on media to product accuracy for a myriad of reasons. Given the..”mutability”…of the Transformers franchise, I’m not overly enthused to see Hasbro expending so much energy to get a “85%” to a ”90%”. Especially concerning G1 cartoon stuff which isn’t the most consistent reference point.

It's not just the thighs. Most, if not all, of the legs is new tooling. The new legs look so similar to the old ones that it makes me think the appearance isn't what's driving the change. Most notably, the new legs appear to split, with hinges on the side of the legs.

I'm really hoping that the knees on the new legs will lock into place instead of just being that weird friction joint on the original. Forget the head. Those knees were my biggest complaint about Kingdom Cyclonus.

I never had much trouble with the knees on any version of the mold, but then I didn't really transform them a lot so loosening wasn't as much of a risk. But they were weird and fiddly and hard to get the hang of, so it's good to see a fix. That's a point in this release's favor.

It does seem to lose the foot covers that give the altmode its rear booster effect sockets (and a cohesive non-gappy look), though, unless there's a forgotten transformation step for the display model.

I just... all I want for this thing now is for it to be a bluer shade. It's got everything else going for it.

Preorders here started appearing for the three reveals. Put one in for Cyclonus. I’d probably have gone for cliffjumper if he had the chest spoiler and the front of the car mode not been so weirdly blank. Blitzwing looks like DCS but with a brighter purple more or less so I don’t need him. They should have retooled him with a bent cannon since that and almost getting run over by Optimus is all I remember of him from the movie.

Kranix is wonderful. I never thought I'd see a transforming Lithonian. I didn't believe the leak until we had pictures.

But here we are, and it's great. Hopefully we'll get a comics adaptation redeco, and an Arblus remold, and a Shattered Glass version with a BFG, or at least Cliffjumper's bazooka.
