But I thought we won. No wait, we need help. No, we don't, and our allies suck. Actually, allies, please come help us. No, wait, deal coming in two weeks. No, wait......

Gotta admire the gall of the administration: it took Obama's crew (including the Secretary of State) some 20 months to hammer out a deal...
Only for Trump to tear it up in his first term, start a war against them in his second, and Vance and goons wouldn't give a full day to actually accomplish anything.

With a final tally of 213-214, the war powers resolution to disengage US forces from the war on Iran failed by a single vote. Representative Jared Golden of Maine was the sole Democratic lawmaker to vote against the measure. Had he voted for it, it would have passed, handing Trump an historic loss.

So this will all end the same as when it started, just with Trump's name on the agreement instead of Obama's, which was all Trump really wanted.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.
Citizen
Why would iran go back to the terms of the original JCPOA? They're in a much stronger position now than they were then, and they know trump is incapable of stopping them.

They won't, but you're missing the point: Trump's name will be on it.

So what if the terms are worse than the original? It'll be the Trump Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. That's what matters. Eat it, Obama!

Uh, no. My point is: they won't make an agreement with trump. It won't be the trump JCPOA, it'll be "the war in iran that trump lost".

Trump is an idiot even though trying to go back to the original JCPOA terms isn't a horrible idea: the context in which it was penned is dead and gone and so is that opportunity. More to the point: no one believes trump will honour a contract, he never has before and he's literally insane now. Iran might (maybe, possible, conceivably... but I doubt it.) come to a written agreement, but they're going to define the terms and more than likely wait till either the EU steps in, or an actual adult is in charge of the US.
