Studio Series discussion

Weird color choice for Cliffjumper - the arms are animation-accurate, but it inverts the colors on his lower half (grey legs, black pelvis). With the unfortunate result that it looks like he's wearing a diaper. I'm guessing mold layouts made it necessary.

Blitzwing looks like he's in his Dramatic Capture deco.

Cyclonus is interesting... it looks like he's lacking the dark purple sides of his spaceship nose, but those are animation accurate (at least the two pics I quickly found on the wiki, I know Cyclonus' appearance varied a lot). Might also be more of a lavender color instead of Kingdom's bronze-y silver, but could also just be the lightning in that pic.

CJ I'll likely get, the others I'll likely pass

has studio series now just devolved into 'retools and redecos: the line'

Studio series started out to make the movie TFs as pretty faithful desgins but then they expanded it as they ran out of characters from the good movies to include the 86 movie, then came the Gamer line, but Gamer has pretty much vanished without doing Jazz but then for me, the Gamer figures were ok but the arm gimmick is rather a nusnace as the slots become pretty loose easily after a while plus storing the arm is also a pain when you put the gun in, however, I think Hasbro has lost focus on their TF lines, I mean this year its the "30th" of Beast Wars, yet there's next to no fanfare with only one figure of a character from the main show coming out that, being Quickstrike and he appeared in season 2 onwards, while for kids, they just don't seem to know what they are doing, while I don't pay a great deal of attention to the stuff for kids, but the resent shows, look either genetic or boring, plus extremely dull, plus Hasbro is going back to the seeker well again, plus from what I know, they resently been moving HQ so that the retools and redecos are a quick way to make some money in the meantime!

My 'main' Bumblebees are the dark yellow Wal-Mart bug and Origins. I'll be very happy if I can find a Cliffjumper of a totally different mold than either. Isn't that mold a bit taller than Wal-Mart Bee? If so, even better.

And that's not even taking into account all the Japanese series as well. Like, Masterforce and Beast Wars II both share anniversary years with those in the 2028 section too.

Cyclonus has clear plastic. Might just pick him up because Kingdom's yellowing plastic sucks and while I can paint over it, it inevitably leads to chippage.

Cliffjumper is an easy choice to get, Blitzwing I'm still content to pass on.

Cyclonus I'll get if better pictures show he's more that Unite Warriors-y bluish violet, and more distinct from the Selects one. And/or if he has a new headsculpt.

Even if mold layouts made it necessary for the legs and crotch to be different they should’ve kept it the main body color like they did Bumblebee IMO.

I really think blue windows and a 5mm fin for the top of the chest really would’ve elevated him.

As-is he’s less accurate than the old Buzzworthy one.

I really miss the Unite Warriors colors on Cyclonus. This one is also a lateral move but given the plastic degradation a needed purchase.

I already have DC Blitzwing so this one is an easy pass.

I wish the SS86 mold had factored in a way for Cliffjumper to have his little chest spoiler shelf. Maybe have it swivel back to be covered by the backpack/rear half of the car for altmode.

As shows go, you're missing out if you're passing on Cyberworld.

I'd like to see much better pics, but right now, I'm perfectly fine with my current iterations of Cyclonus, Cliffjumper, and Blitzwing. I'm seriously becoming worn out by all of the "re-doing G1 characters that have been done perfectly well, recently" crap. I say that as an unapologetic, lifelong G1 fan. So please wake me up when Studio Series does something interesting.
