Maybe turning this into a competition will get the U.S. government's ass in gear.

"C'mon, America! Britain's already beating us 2-0! Get your heads in the game!"

The problem is that it's not "America" they're competing with, but the dictator currently in charge of it who has a vested interest in forfeiting the game because he was one of Epstein's top clients himself.

Parliamentary by-election today up north. Labour hoping to retain their seat, currently polling in a three-way tie with the Green Party and Farage’s latest far-right party. Obviously not going to be great if vote-splitting helps get the fash another seat in parliament.

Oh, some parts of the UK media are really doubling-down on the “foreigners stole the by-election” narrative. Trumpism has crossed the Atlantic.

At last. Now all we need to do is remove the peers who got their seats because of favouritism and giving donations to whichever political party had the sitting prime minister. As in most of the remaining peers.

(Oh, I’ll remember not to link to the BBC news page in future — had no idea it was paywalled outside of the UK!)

Most overtly fascist Tory regime in history gets ousted by Labour who proceed to be even more fascist... and then in the midst of it all, somehow pass the most revolutionary positive change to the the structure of the British state since the Magna Carta, what the hell is going on??? This is like if we somehow passed a Constitutional amendment banning gerrymandering while the Republicans had a supermajority.

I’ve got local elections where I live next month. Looked up the list of candidates which was just released, and noticed that there are no Tories are standing in the election at all. In an area that had Tory MPs solidly for over a century until 2024. I guess they’ve admitted defeat at the hands of the Reform party. That’s… Grim. And I say that as someone who’s never voted Tory and who hates the Tories’ guts.

Yep, the article mentions that it was repealed in New Zealand after a government change.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.
Citizen
Oh, okay. I was wondering why it was repealed: and it was just the folks who want you sick and dying coming back into power. Good to know.
