Surprised that it's only 3. I would have figured that they'd keep doing groups of 4.
It was done in deference to the Bills and Vikings, each of whom have negative experiences with things in batches of fours. Like Super Bowl loses.

Makes me think of how the number 4 is unlucky in Japan, as it's a homophone for the Japanese word for death.

Ma'am, this is a toy store. Please stop flipping off the childrens products.
Completely off-topic, but this reminds me of back in the heady days of RiD01, whenever I saw an Air Attack Optimus Primal at ToysRUs, the childrens products would invariably be flipping off the customers. Seriously, if ever there was a figure that didn't need a "try me" hole in the package, that was the one...

I thought that originated in China...though tended to be a general thing for cultures in that region anyway, so I'm willing to give it to you.

When I worked at Target, sometime during late Energon, we randomly got in about eight pallets of Armada Unicron. They ended up taking an entire aisle on the sales floor just to get them out of the back room (we were in the back to school buildup phase, we had no room). Someone went through the entire aisle and made every single one of them flip the bird. And not just the figures in front, every figure on the shelves.

I wonder if there's some extra hoops to jump through when it comes to licensing. You'd think that Hasbro would just need to make one deal with the NFL, granting them the rights to all 32 teams, but I could see maybe there's some additional per-team details that need to get approved (like the individual bots names)? I dunno, just seems very odd to have 4 in the first wave then only 3 in the second.

I remain convinced they'll never get to the whole league before this peters out.

Yeah I'm kinda starting to think the same. You'd think they'd want to at least get out the ones for the teams that sell the most merch. Which does vary somewhat year-to-year, but of the ones not already covered, I'd think they would definitely want to do the Bears, Eagles, Raiders, Giants, and Lions... and I think the Dolphins sell well too. Bills and Vikings are a bit of an odd choice in that regard (though I know the Bills at least do well now because of Josh Allen).

Though, most merch is stuff like jerseys and hats; quite possible that non-clothing trinkets sell differently.
