Toys Not the Wrong Trousers! Picture of New Jetfire in Combined Mode

It was a dark night in the city when Jetfire walked into my office. He was all legs. No, seriously, he was just a pair of legs.

From MarkClonus on Instagram, we have additional pictures of the upcoming Armada Jetfire toy including the first picture of him in "pants" mode combined with Armada Optimus Prime.

Also included is a comparison to the original toy

And just a picture featuring Mark's always-excellent posing.

We are looking at a much more complicated transformation than the original. I'm not sure I've totally worked it out yet. There's some necessary stuff, like Jetfire's arms are connected to the wings now, because they need to move to a different spot, because those working super mode legs take all the space the arms took on the original toy. Then there's just gratuitous extras like that trick to make the super mode feet bigger than Jetfire's feet. That would normally be anime magic, but they made it happen.

It's so peak.

Yeah, it's very clever. The way that the normal shins move up to cover/lock the small knees and make the small hips into the super robot knees while the super robot hips and thighs transform out of the torso is all so well done.

I don't know if I need it. As I said in the main thread, I don't have Armada Optimus and was holding out for a Powerlinx repaint. I'll likely buy the upcoming Overload regardless, as I've never had any version of him but always coveted him just because I like his look. If they do end up making a Powerlinx Prime and I have it and Overload, I'm gonna wish that I had Jetfire here to add to the play value.

I just wish they'd kept the split nosecone in robot mode...

It seems they're still using the old Dreamwave profiles for their reference images. Oh well.

Sadly those may legitimately be the best images Hasbro has. Show accuracy is the name of the game these days, but the animation is way too inconsistent to be useful, and there's no fan-colored character models they can mistakenly use.

Haven't they become notorious for basing things off of how they look in a single frame of animation?

Surely they could find an ideal one to point to and say "Yeah, there."

I like the proportions of both chubby Jetfire and the Anime Mecha combined mode, but the shuttle... yeesh... it's like Siege Astrotrain all over again.
