Hmm, I remember Scramble City being weird because Devastator used drills for his hands. And Predaking had weird giant eyes. And everybody wore capes, haha

The Defenders Dino Snarl will combine?!?

I got me a Devastator kit. Seems like the connector from Hook and Boncrusher is loose. Is Hook port the problem? Is that a common complaint?

If there's a loose connection between Hook and Bonecrusher, they're just going for G1 authenticity.

(joking around here, a little . . . just in case it comes across more as asshole than snarky . . . Bonecrusher always fell off on my Devastator, and I usually had to prop his arm a little bit to keep it in place, but I'll never get rid of my constructicons)

That was Zone, the second Transformers OVA.
Scramble City is the first one, set between season 2 and the movie.
Ooooh ok. I got them mixed up, haha

That was hilarious, hehe

That last one looks like it's from Scramble City, rather than the cartoon proper.
I didn't realize there was a distinction, I just thought it was basically a Japan-only episode.

The greenish tint gave it away, since Scramble City never got a proper remastering treatment like the US episodes did. Toei didn't take good care of Scramble City's masters (or those of many of their 1980s anime), having allowed them to degrade over time.

Honestly, for me, 1980s Toei animation is comfy and the degraded masters only add to it somehow. I swear, crisp quality would hurt the vibe.

The fuzziness of the picture is fine (The Headmasters, Masteforce, Victory, and Zone all had it too). It's the puke color that Scramble City's degraded masters got stuck with that's bad.

Honestly, the vintage VHS version of Scramble City looks nicer since, unlike the DVD, it doesn't have the green tint.

Should look into remastering it.

Honestly, I feel like someone should probably have said something at some point before it got that bad. Then again, it was a while before G1 nostalgia hit full blast...

Toei doesn't care. They let all of their masters for all of their vintage shows degrade. That's why Dragon Ball fans are unhappy with how everyone in that show looks so pink in all of Toei and Funimation's official DVD and Blu-Ray releases, because Toei didn't take better care of their stuff.

I was thinking someone from Takara or Hasbro...

But they are toy companies.
You're telling me neither has had anything to do with when the cartoons get re-released on home video formats or YouTube or whatever else they've done? It's all been from the other side?

The 40th anniversary Apology Tour isn't a Hasbro thing?

I thought they considered themselves a media company now, after all.

If only. Takara's relationship with Toei isn't anything like the relationship between Sunrise and Bandai, for good and for ill.
I have no idea what either relationship is like, to be honest.

I'm saying they don't do the remastering themselves.
