Generations 2027: No More Primes! It is the Age of Evolution!

It's that time of year! The usual cadre of leakers have started to get word of next spring's Generations refresh, following the "expansion wave" of Age of the Primes. I've gathered some of the scattered "bits" from the TFW thread, but keep in mind that we're nearly a year out from release. Things can and WILL change. Further, with Studio Series rumored to be expanding into comic representations, there might well be some "intermixing" between this and Studio Series, as saw in 2011 with Gold box and Generations. This is what I've scavenged through the MASIVE 2026 and 2027 Generations threads at TFW.

Plot- Interpreted from a shorthand, translated from Chinese, we have "MGR RST", speculated to mean "Megatron Rising Resistance". JtPrime's "hint":
Wait? So you’re telling me the autobots have to put together a rag tag group of bots that form an underground resistance, because Megatron is forcing his age of evolution across Cybertron and the multiverse? It’s making sense now

Names being associated with this new initiative include: Megatron, Lugnut, Nightbird, Barricade, Skyfire, Rook, Overload, Magnaboss, Scorponok, Viper, Scoop, Goldfire, Getaway, Drift, "Flame", Pipes, Snarl, Slash, Nightbird. Tripredacus STRONGLY discussed.

Line will see two commanders, rumors fluctuate between Magnaboss and either Armada Overload or Tripredacus. CONFIRMED by Hasbro that 2027's Titan release will be another AOE Dinobot

I presume the two Nightbirds are from scooping together info rather than getting two (Different) Nightbirds, yes?

Given that we never saw the smaller scale Fortress Maximus that was rumored, if it even was real in the first place, I could see this Skorponok either being a remake of Energon or a Marvel interpretation (or both, depending on how creative the remolding is) to counter that same Fort Max if he's been ported to this line.

Unless it's a random reissue of Kingdom Scorponok.

Yeah, hard to keep track when you got 3 viable posters putting out fragments of information :p Wouldn't surprise me if I missed a name or two.

The smaller scale Fort Max is reportedly a 2027 Studio Series offering, so we wouldn't be seeing anything of him until this summer at the earliest. Supposedly, Nautica is on slate as another comic oriented offering.

But as I caveated above, names like Scorponok, Drift, Nightbird, and Barricade have strong associations across multiple franchise iterations and films. Some of these could be comic or film items for Studio Series.

Modern reissues tend to keep the same packaging and branding as the original release. So I don't think a new Scorponok would be listed as part of a new Generations line if it was simply a reissue of the Kingdom figure.

Like, the reissues of Siege Prowl, Legacy Beachcomber, etc...
they're all in their original packaging. Some of them with the old release dates on the legal. Making me think a lot of these reissues are just Hasbro finding old stock in the back of a warehouse somewhere.

Definitely. That's the inventory investors have been whining about for years. The warehouses are stuffed.

And this is what Hasbro means when they keep trying to explain it's good quality inventory and people need to stop panicking. These "reissues" have a market. Somebody will buy them.

Unless it's a "package refresh". I strongly suspect Pipes to be such, unless Hasbro's getting wacky and doing a comic Pipes...but that might be more appropriate for the rumored Comic sub-series in Studio Series. Goldfire could get away with being a package refresh of the multipack Goldbug, but others have pointed out him possibly being a retool of Devastation Bumblebee.

Some have taken "Flame" to be a rerun of the comic character...but I'm doubtful. I feel he's a bit too obscure for mass retail, but it could also be a mistranslation and be a placeholder name for a new Firestar or Flare up (which would probably share tooling with Nightbird).

Snarl is hard to pin down since it is such a "go to" for beast Transformer names. But with Slash also among the listings...what if Rescue Bots Academy Dinobots? Snarl (stego) was present, as was Slash. Slash, as a velociraptor, could serve as a tooling foundation for a new Beast Wars Grimlock to go with Magnaboss and a potential Selects Ultra Mammoth for BW Uprising Maximal Council. There's a LOT of "threads" that you follow along those lines. And if you consider Scoop as a "pretool" for Boulder, that would certainly help expand Rescue Bot representation.

Fine. "Package refresh".

This furthers my "these reissues are just found warehouse inventory" theory. Package refreshes have been a thing for a while, I feel. New line, but we can fit a previous figure in, let's do it, get our money's worth out of the mould.

But it's only recently that Hasbro's gone in on "reissues" being packaged entirely in old packaging. It's not just Transfomers. They recently reissued Miss Marvel and 20th Anniversary Captain America in the Marvel Legends line, and they're in their original packing, neither of which look like what Marvel Legends uses for contemporary releases.

I made a point to check the back of the box when I found Devcon at Target last year. And I originally thought my Target just had a few in the back they found because the box had a 2023 date on it, the date of the original release. And then I found out no, that's all of the 2025 reissues.

If Hasbro wants a figure back to fill out a new line, they'll put it in the new line's packaging like they've always done. But this "it's back, in the OG packing" thing? Thats gotta be "the shareholders are kvetching at us about clearing out inventory and this is what we found."

ANYWAY Kingdom Scorponok 😅
Maybe! If the theme of the Generations line after AotP is "All Hail Megatron Across the Multiverse" then maybe we may get some BW Megs love? They did skip his Transmetal form after updating his original Beast and Transmetal II forms... and if that were to happen... surely he could use some Predacon minions...

So basically, Age of the Primes is being followed by Age of the Megatrons.
Wouldn't shock me if someone joked about that and then someone else went "hang on, maybe..." and now here we are.

But let's see... ideas of how to fill this out with Megatrons...

G1 Megatron- SS '86 repaint done in a "toy accurate" detail. Silver paint, chest swirls, black helmet, yellow eyes. A new toy accurate head would be nice, but just repainting the original Sunbow design mould could work in a pinch.

BW Megatron- New mould, update of his Transmetal design.

MW Megatron- Legacy Needlenose with a new head. Would even make him compatible with that MW Starscream that's coming.

BW II Galvatron- Not a Megatron, but he's Megatron-adjacent. And with Big Convoy getting Magmatron, that leaves Lio Convoy/Leo Prime as the only BW Maximal leader without an opposite number. The original BW II Galvy also suffered from GPS, so a modern redo that won't crumble in your hands would be nice.

UT Megatron- So many options. Armada's been covered, but a package refresh isn't off the table. For original moulds... either Energon or Cybertron would be cool.

Animated Megatron- A new mould Animated Megs would be really neat, and would finally give the Animated 'Cons some love in Generations with the main Autobot cast nearing completion. He'd also pair well with Legacy's Animated Optimus.

Prime Megatron- I don't think he's ever had a toy outside of the Prime lines. Doing him before Generations gets to Prime Optimus would be wild, but if the theme is Megatrons...

You could get repaints out of most of these. BW Transmetal Megatron? Armada Predacon.
MW Megatron? MW Megaplex.
UT Megatron? Either Energon or Cybertron has a baked in Galvatron repaint.
Animated Megatron had that black repaint originally they could reference if they so desired.
Prime Megatron would need some retooling, but you could get either Sharkticon or Unicron-infused Megs out of him.

It's not thirteen Megatrons for Thirteen Primes, but you could probably make it work.

I want to believe that's exactly what happened, and it's possible. We have a brand team that has exactly that kind of energy, and we have a CEO who has expressly challenged all brand teams to have a "Just do it" approach if they think they have a viable idea. This is a potentially dangerous combo, and it's great.

This got me thinking: Both have robot modes, both have scorpion/"scorpion" modes, but the OG has a city mode while the other has a jet/spaceship mode.

Has anyone managed to make some sort of fan mode of the jet work for the Titan version?

Supposedly, Nautica is on slate as another comic oriented offering.

I picture fan-jet mode for Titan Skorponok as the hardest-to-swish-around altmode since G1 Fortress Maximus (though I've been told TR Maximus is even harder due to its legs not staying up, I don't know that for sure, as I don't have any Titans except Omega and Trypticon).
