In regards to the Switch 2 production cuts…we’ll see how that turns out. I know the system, in some fashion, seems readily available despite strong initial sales. I think a LOT of sales drop off came from the lack of meaningful follow up from Nintendo, themselves. 3rd Party support was solid enough, but Nintendo really didn’t have a compelling showing last holiday season for the new system.

MKW and Donkey Kong were solid games, but release period and holiday season were dominated by “Switch 1 titles with extra polish”. And most slapped you with an upcharge to get access to that polish if you already had the game. Kirby Air Riders, regardless quality, is NOT a title that will pull in western consumers, with Metroid‘s value undercut by being available on the Switch 1 (and, again, charging consumers money to benefit from the Switch 2’s increased power).
Sales for this coming holiday are going to depend greatly on Nintendo’s offerings, which they remain tight lipped on.

That said, maybe Nintendo themselves just spoiled us too darn much with the Switch’s outrageously solid release cadence for its first 3 years or so (thanks, largely, to milking the WiiU’s failure for cost effective ports).

Let's not also forget, Sony and possibly Microsoft are using the Switch model for their next consoles and they will be offering premium hardware. Switch 2 is good enough for me but for people sensitive to resolutions and framerates it isn't. While PS6 and 'Project Helix' might be doing games at native 4K, 60fps with ray tracing docked, Switch 2 is doing RE7 and FF7 1080p upscaled non RT docked.

Those systems could be be released in 27/28. Nintendo will want to be in there with a more serious killer app Zelda or Mario game.

I see someone fell for the Grifter's lies hook line and sinker.

The system was not "readily available despite strong sales." they had strong sales BECAUSE it was easily available, AND had produced plenty ahead of time. And this is a "Just can't win" case.. Because if there was ANY kind of shortage which is usual for a launch, same people who are going "EASY TO GET.. NO ONE BUYING!!!!" would instead being screaming "ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY!!! NINTENDO HATES FANS!!! Oh? The Ps5? Well you see... that doesn't count because of A, B and C... BUT NINTNEDO IS GREEDY AND HATES EVERYONE AND RAPED MY DOG!!!"

None of them right away slapped you with an upcharge only. Almost every one of the Switch 2 editions contained DLC. Or are you gonna ignore all the PS4 games that slapped you with an upcharge for the PS5?

The Switch 2 already has as many, if not more exclusive games than the PS5 has had in the same period.

Switch 2 is doing great for third parties.

Switch 2 Sales are far past Nintendo's old systems,

The guy who posted the "Cutting production down" is also historically inaccurate with nintendo information.

Takahachi Mochiuki has reported false info numerous times which has been called out by others in the industry.

But at this point I assume you believe Nintendo sued Game Genie, so not sure how much of this will actually get through.

I think that what is holding me back on the Switch 2 is that white bar at the bottom of so many of their games. I just can't see myself buying part of a game and having to rely on downloading the other part.

But at this point I assume you believe Nintendo sued Game Genie, so not sure how much of this will actually get through.

Anticipating legal challenges, the Game Genie's U.S. distributor, Galoob, preemptively sued Nintendo in May 1990 to prevent the company from blocking sales. Nintendo countered with a lawsuit seeking a preliminary injunction, which initially halted Game Genie sales. However, when the case went to trial, Galoob prevailed, not only securing the right to sell the device but also winning US$15 million (equivalent to $34.4 million in 2025) in damages. Nintendo appealed the decision but was ultimately unsuccessful.

First off, you can take it down a notch. I don't have the time and energy to verify everyone else's links and info. I'm not familiar with Takahachi Mochiuki, not that I could read the article since it's on Bloomberg. Is my take on production flawed based on false information? Apparently it is, you've proven that. Is my perspective on Nintendo's release slate wrong? Maybe, but I think there is a valid discussion to possibly be had in that regard.

But you can address those issues without that amount of sass directed at me.

Then maybe you shouldn't be posting it?
I didn’t, I was responding to another individual’s post on that subject which included a link to that rumor/information. I don’t have the time, energy or patience to police everyone’s links to ensure they are completely accurate. All I can do is ensure my links are reasonably accurate with appropriate caveats if necessary.

I had an opinion on a subject from which I was using flawed/wrong information. Fine, and I got called out for it. But I don’t feel my post warranted being it addressed with such hostility.

" Galoob, preemptively sued Nintendo"

Galoob there is the plantiff. Meaning, no Nintendo didn't sue game genie.

It is a mirky situation. It is true that Galoob sued first but Nintendo did counter sue, got their injunction to stop Game Genie while the case was being decided, lost the case, then appealed and lost again. So I honestly can see that either interpretation of the events has its merits.

If you bought any Plastation or Xbox games over the past 5-10 years, you already been doing that. Nintendo is just being honest about it.
To be honest, I really haven't been buying that many games in the past 5-10 years outside of the Switch. My kids broke both my Xbox One and my PS4, so I haven't been playing anything on them for at least the last 5 years. Although I do still pick up an Xbox game here or there when I find one on sale. Recently I went to Gamestop and got these 4 for $20:

Gears of War Ultimate edition/ Rare Replay 2 pack
Dragon Age Inquisition
Recore
Injustice 2

No Idea if they are download to play games or not, but since I have yet to get a replacement for my Xbox One, I won't find out for a little while.

Tomb Raider 1 - 3 Remaster got a update for Switch 2: 1440p, 120fps.

Warframe got patched:

Alien Rogue Incursion got stealth dropped

Edit: Twenty years ago, Nintendo announced the 'Revolution' was now 'Wii' that caused some ruckus in the gaming community, it gained the console some ridicule. It wasn't until E3 and TGS where playable models showcasing the Wii controller with it's potential changed perceptions.

Not my cup of tea but still significant news, I am looking forward to FF7 Rebirth in June.

I looked through my Switch library and would love Switch 2 editions of Assassins Creed and Batman Arkham Trilogy but figure AC4 Resynced will come to the system and maybe (if much less likely) Batman Trilogy 2 with Return to Arkham and a proper Switch 2 port of Arkham Knight.

Nintendo is continuing their shuffle steps into "modern gaming" with June 25th's release of Star Fox, exclusive for Switch 2

Guess what? It's another remake of Star Fox 64. It's got HD graphics, fully voiced FMV and all that fancy stuff...but it's still just another remake of Star Fox 64. Given the advancements made over time (the strategy and unique character elements of Command, the exploration aspects of Adventure, the variable mission structure of Assault, the open "star system" of Starlink), I just find it utterly boring that this is the direction Nintendo has taken the franchise. But hey, at least Nintendo is taking a step forward with FMV and voice acting!

I have to agree, but even if it is remaking Star Fox 64 again (which itself is a remake of the first game on the Super NES), at least Star Fox is finally getting a new entry instead of being forgotten about by Nintendo except for Super Smash Bros. and maybe even Universal for a future movie.

Its becuase its basically the only Starfox game that actually sales.

Yep! It's existing fanbase while adamant, is also not particularly large. This being a remake of arguably the best game in the franchise with modern improvements is CLEARLY an attempt to bring enough people in to actually justify making more games in the franchise.

And I hope it works. I hope this is wildly successful and generates enough new fans to justify making more games.

Nintendo: We want the StarFox series to be a vessel for exploring new ideas in 3D gameplay, and the main reason we stopped making new games is that we've run out of new ideas to try

Also Nintendo: remakes the first game in the series more times than they make or publish new games

I will admit that every time I encounter someone who's a genuine fan of the StarFox games (rather than just the, uh... fan art), they also only care about 64, and their complaints that Nintendo doesn't do more with the IP boil down to "I want a level-pack sequel to 64." And who can blame them when the game was so short in the first place? You can go from start to end credits in as little as, what, six levels? Coming from the developers of Super Mario World and the Zelda games, that's practically a tech demo. Which brings me to my biggest misgiving about remaking that specific game again: I don't know if today's gamers are going to stand for paying $70 for a game they can beat in less time than Portal. By all means, reboot the franchise, and sure, keep the simplistic arcadey gameplay, and even make the campaign fundamentally the same if you must, but for God's sake flesh it out into a full-length game!

And maybe that's what Nintendo is planning to do this time around... but I'm not holding my breath.

While we're on the subject, I find it odd that, in a world of "Fine, I'll just make my own ____ game, with blackjack and hookers" indie projects, and despite the obvious appeal to suspiciously wealthy furries who could fund such a thing, I've never seen any serious efforts to make an indie StarFox clone. Or even a genuinely-copyright-infringing-and-lawyer-summoning fan game like there's been with stuff like Metroid and Pokémon. Maybe that's telling. Maybe there really aren't many good ideas to be had for how to make much more out of this concept than already exists.
