Netflix's One Piece

Was the identity of Mr Zero done differently in the manga and anime? I didn't feel like it went right here. She's gonna tell who he really is and who he really is is someone I've never heard of. It felt like it was going to be someone I had heard of. Had the others heard of him?

He's one of the Seven Warlords, like Mihawk. He's not anyone the viewer knows, even when it was first revealed in the Manga or Anime; but his being one of them makes him infamous in the OP world, and is why he was hiding his identity. He's kinda trying to have his cake and eat it too by using his position connected to the Marines and World Govt to help further his criminal organization.

When Gol D. asked the Admiral to take care of his son, I went to see if Luffy was actually Gol D.'s son. No, he's not. I read some about Ace and that he was cast, so I assumed he would show up this season. Are they intending to misdirect people that won't Google it? Did the manga and anime misdirect for a while? It seemed odd to me that they didn't follow up that conversation this season.

I feel it is very intented for newbies like you and my roommate to assume Luffy is who Roger is talking about; becuase that scene in the Manga/Anime doesn't happen for like 5 or 6 more arcs.

It seems like Season 2 and 3 are basically being filmed back to Back, so yeah likely everyone important has already been cast.

So I am not waiting 3 years for season 3 now?

When I finished this season, Netflix automatically played me the scene from the anime where Luffy and Colby escaped the cowgirl pirate. It reminded me a lot of Dragonball.

You have to remember the writer's strike hit during those three years and effected a lot of productions schedules. They also needed to wait for Season 2 to get greenlit, while Season 3 was greenlint with season 2 was still in production.

Yeah, from what I understand they've already started filming for Season 3. It should be out faster than Season 2 was. I'd say sometime next year, probably. Don't hold me to that, though.

As for the Roger son mislead...that was actually a pretty common fan-theory in the community before we got the real reveal. Everyone thought Luffy was going to turn out to be Roger's son, before Garp told Luffy about his real dad. So, part of me actually appreciates them trying to preserve the swerve, in some fashion. Even if it is kind of dirty pool, tricking the new fans like that.

The scene at the end with the doctor and the bull reminded me of the scene of Lady 5th and Jiraya in Naruto where they basically reveal that Naruto is MInato's son.

Edit - Oh! I just looked up who Luffy's dad really is. We saw him blowing smoke?

Edit - This seems like a good place to tell a funny story. When "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" movie was about to come out, a coworker of mine who only watches movies and never reads books told me this theory of what "The Half-Blood Prince" was. I told him "I guess we'll see".

But, yes. Enjoy that scene. Because we likely won't be seeing that character again, anytime soon. One Piece's plots can be a SLOW burn.

Luffy's Father is probably the most major background character; even though we see him very little A LOT happens due to his actions or choices.

So the three major powers are all being run by Monkeys. That sounds about right.

Technically no. Garp is just a vice admiral, and refuses to rise to the rank of Admiral or Fleet Admiral, though considering the name of the current Fleet Admiral... well I guess they are still ran by a monkey... And Luffy only desires to be King, but also doesn't really have a desire to have a fleet or anything.

One piece, in its early years, is inspired by Dragonball, the original Dragonball that is, but then Oda really grew into the series and these days its long since passed the number of chapters Dragonball had across its whole run

I didn't actually have to do the 3 year wait because I didn't watch season 1 until last year. So this gap will be larger for me, not smaller.

One Piece...of CHICKEN!

Only two pieces of chicken? It's like they don't know Luffy at ALL!

And $4 for a cupcake feels high. Nami would never go for that. But, I guess I haven't priced cupcakes in a while, so I don't really know.

I'll admit, though, I DO like the look of that Gum-Gum Fruit themed glass. I'm pretty sure that doesn't actually come with the drink, though.

All the really fun collectibles seem to be exclusive to a few, key cities and the online shop, but I can't really blame them for that.
