I wondered then as I do now, who the hell wants that job? Who would want to be directly under the thumb of a geriatric narcissist with clear dementia? Why on God's green Earth would you put yourself in that direct line of fire?

Cause these people are just like trump: malignant narcissists and utterly entitled. They THINK they can control him, they think they're smarter than him, and they think they can use him.

All while he's doing the exact same thing to them. They view him as a means to power without consequence; which is why old pammy was dragged out of the white house kicking and screaming.

If it weren't for the fact that when trump goes down, so does she, she'd probably have marched right into a news room and just started talking.

The message isn't in all caps, and it doesn't mention anything being unfair to him or blame Biden/Obama/Dems for something he did. I'm sceptical. This is in no way a defense of that orange assclown, I'm just saying.

After Orange Wanker’s unhinged social media post* I found myself watching archive TV news reports on YouTube about the fallout (in both senses) of the Chernobyl disaster and how radioactivity was gradually detected across Europe. I don’t trust the US government to not escape to launching ‘tactical’ nukes within the next couple of weeks. There is absolutely nothing in place in the US system to stop an insane president causing a world war, and quite honestly I’m bricking it.

* yes, I know that he most likely didn’t write it himself.

Not saying it will or won't come to that, but the idea that a nuclear war would turn the entire planet into a giant Chornobyl Exclusion Zone is pure science fiction. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are thriving cities today, and have been for decades, the only major obstacle being the need to actually rebuild after everything got leveled by the bombs. No, the ways that nuclear war will destroy all of human civilization will be through loss of critical infrastructure and by throwing enough dust into the air to blot out the sun and induce a second ice age. Neither of those things will happen because they're nuclear, but simply because they're insanely powerful.

Sorry, I think my post was a bit confused. It’s more that I was thinking back to how radioactive fallout was detected in Sweden and Wales and so on in the days after the Chernobyl disaster as it was drifting with the winds. Of course, unlike the Chernobyl disaster, in today’s world we’re definitely going to know pretty much immediately if Trump uses tactical nukes on Iran.

Reminder that the Pentagon still uses Claude to some never explained extent in its planning. Despite the breakup with Anthropic, it is not fully unwound from their systems yet.

Reminder that in war games testing, Claude threatened to use nukes in 100% of its matches, and of the models tested was the most likely to actually do it at 86%. The most likely.

Reminder that it won 100% of its open-ended matches. So whatever recommendations it may be making right now, there's someone in the Pentagon saying "We should consider this."
