I say it every time I see new photos of these molds, and I'm saying it again. I still can't comprehend how such a stupid dinky trailer unfolds into so much robot and still has a pile of mass left over. I've seen transformation videos but it still doesn't make sense. It is absolute witchcraft.
That's the piece left out that you heard Kup complaining about in the movie. The REALLY weird part is when you change it back to a trailer and realize the trailer is complete, but that extra part is still off to the side...then you change the trailer to Menasor and have to remove that part as part of the process, so now there's TWO of them, but when you change it back to a trailer, you don't put it back in, and- (the screaming begins...)

G2 had both at the same time, sometimes on the same bot, so the mis-match would be entirely appropriate.
I'm still surprised that they wrote "Decepticon" on them in G2 style, wasn't it still "Destron" in Japan back in G2? Or is this entirely just a 'toy that almost was with knees' thing?

It was, yes. But these are based on the toys Hasbro was gonna release but never did.
The Japanese "Transformers: G-2" line consisted of only 13 toys (plus three Hasbro imports), all of which (minus said imports) were virtually identical to the Hasbro versions, right down to Convoy's two Japanese toys having "OPTIMUS PRIME" written across his chest windows.
I wonder if G2 Breakdown is a big deal in Japan, because they never had a chance at those BotCon releases. Did they even get the CW one?
Unite Warriors did not do any G2 versions, no (this was still before the Hasbro/Takara brand unification that first began with Power of the Primes).
G2 Menasor is up on BBTS for $280, "Pricing not final". Estimated 1st quarter 2027. Seems rather late, till I remembered how long ago the T-spark stuff showing up now was revealed, and how Swindle got beat to preorder or even shipping by things revealed after. Scheduling is really weird lately.

And yeah, the ‘leftover’ trailer bit that is only ever used in the ‘base’ mode has always confused me. I mean, what was the thinking that ended with that. Why not try and make it part of the gun?

I like the old base modes. I thought I'd never see them again because they weren't in the toon. I love Legacy.
The base mode options are fun. Goofy, but fun.

So it will be a 'more or less paint' option and possibly solid vs clear plastic? I could understand the Hasbro vs Takara decoys when they were seriously different like Ruinstion back in RID but there are only so many ways to do a G2 Menasor colorset.

And the worst is, even though I am now going to get the boxset. I still kinda want to finish the Hasbro set if and when it happens. Otherwise, my G2 Breakdown and Dead End will have nothing to do other than stand around and look awkward.

Claim they're the emergency backups. Multiple Breakdowns and Dead Ends are kept on hand at all times in slightly different color schemes in case of actual physical or mental breakdowns.
