A small thoughts thread: what are you playing and how is it going?

Code Vein II: a very serious and grim story about what price you're willing to pay to save the world.

Also Code Vein II:
I had to post this here as well. I've been watching TMM play (and having him recap the story if he plays while I'm working). Zenon is instantly my fave char b/c of this scene.

Finally made it to the Nether, immediately got jumped by numerous magnacubes and a ghast before I could build shelter/base. Lost a lot of resources making the attempt. I will have to revise my strategy to get some progress.

So, I managed to make a shelter around the nether gate in the nether. Then I expanded it out into a giant tower/spire that I am calling Fort Spiteful. I will continue to expand it out to explorer different regions of the nether.

Had a set back while building covered passages to various areas, but I was able to recover most of the items I lost. Progress will continue, but the Ghasts are certainly slowing me down.

So... behavior now owns the fun pimps...

Which means we might actually get bandits... and paid DLC, and lots of nickel and diming... I doubt it's going to be an improvement.

I just preordered this for Switch. I've never preordered anything from Limited Run before. But with X-Men the Arcade Game, I damn well want physical!

Holy crap! I didn't know you could already buy this digitally already. I thought you could only preorder the Limited Run physical release. But you can absolutelly get this digitally NOW!

I'm keeping my physical Switch preorder...because I am always going to want a physical version of this. But I went ahead and got a digital version on PS5 because I want To play it NOW!

Very tempting! I still have the game on my 360, but given that the machine is 15 years old now, I might need to consider getting this.

X-Men Arcade

2 - Player (US, EU, JP roms) (8 Difficulty Levels)
4 - Player (US, EU, JP roms)
6 - Player (US, EU roms)
Start on any level

The online is seriously lacking. I've had a LOT of slowdown...glitches when people join or drop. Hopefully they patch this. Because as it stands now, Online is borderline unplayable.

Offliine, this is a dream. I have it on PS3, but my PS3 controllers developed massive drift forcing me to get not-so-great 3rd party controllers. So being able to play this again is a dream. Absolutely fabulous.

Captain America And The Avengers

Arcade - EU, US roms, Credits (I don't know what this is. I'm assuming it's the ability to add more credits/lives), Lives per credit 1-6, Difficulty 1-4

Megadrive - Cheats (infinite health, infinite lives)

8-Bit (which usually means NES) - Cheats (infinite health, infinite lives)

I only played the arcade version. It's an okay brawler. Problem is (and the same problem the other brawlers in this collection have) is that if I'm going to play a brawler, I'm going to play the X-Men arcade.

Maximum Carnage
Super NIntendo - Cheats - Infinite health, infinite lives)
Megadrive - Cheats (infinite health, infinite lives)

Again, same same issue as the other brawlers in this package. It's an okay game. But if I'm going to play a brawler, I'm going to play the X-Men Arcade game.

Venom + Spiderman: Separation Anxiety

Super NIntendo - Cheats - Infinite health, infinite lives)
Megadrive - Cheats (infinite health, infinite lives)

Again, same same issue as the other brawlers in this package. It's an okay game. But if I'm going to play a brawler, I'm going to play the X-Men Arcade game.

SpiderMan X-Men Arcade's Revenge

Super Nintendo - Cheats (infinite lives)
Megadrive - Cheats (infinite lives)
Gamegear - Cheats (Infinite lives, infinite health)
Gameboy - Cheats (Infinite Lives, Infinite health)

Let me just say, back in the day, when you got a game, if it sucked, to bad. That game is expensive, that's the game you asked for, that's the game your parents got you...and so that is the game you will be sinking your time into. So even bad games, you learn to love. That is the kind of love I have for the SNES version. Objectively, it was difficult to the point of frustration. But I love it because I owned it. I've only played the SNES version (limited time with the actual Genesis version). So I can't really say much about the other versions.

Silver Surfer

Cheats (infinite health, Infinite Bombs, Infinite Lives)

This is absolutely as bad as the AVGN says it is. If you decide to play this, use the cheats, be prepared to rewind a lot, or be prepared to throw your controller. This game...it sucks hard.

Over All

I'm still happy I got this, and I'm keeping my preorder for the Switch physical. It's mostly for the X-Men arcade game. But seriously...for me...if that's all that was in this package...it would still be worth it for me.

Edit to add

The extras are pretty bare bones.

Manual scans for the home console games. - Bare minimum for these kinds of collections.

Box Art - Meh

Advertisements - basically scans of magazine ads.

Official Artwork - Three whole pictures: 1 for Maximum Carnage, 1 for Arcad'es Revenge and one for Silver Surfer.

Design Documents - Looks like some behind the scenes breakdown document of Maximum Carnage.

Music Player - Now this I love...but then again, I love video game music. And if you've bought other video game collections, you also know this is bare minimum.

I'm back on space engineers, since the next big update is dropping on the 4th. Economy 2! Gonna be big!

Anywho: It's been a long while since I've been able to play the game unmodded. I've got a small core of mandatory mods (like AI crew enabled, which will probably change with economy 2: we're getting ACTUAL NPC's!) and usually a rotating list of stuff I'm testing. This time, the standout mod was a speed limit enhancer. The core speed limit of the game was put in when the game dropped... 13 years ago. So it was worried about computer system resources more than anything related to the player. So double the speed limit I shall go!

To whit: I am not crashing any more than normal... but I did use the atmospheric thrusters to accidentally boost myself into orbit... and since the thrusters use AIR... to never come back down again.

So maybe there is a practical reason they limited the speed to 100ms... Might need to need to get a slower go fastah mod...

It's been less than a week, but Nytetrayn has fallen in love with Celeste, started dating Celeste, married Celeste, had a baby with Celeste, and raised a daughter with Celeste.

Tomodachi Life moves fast, man. Way faster than the original.

Just so you know, the NES version is a completely different game, and is more of a platformer than a brawler.

Since I finished Stray, I'm playing Undertale now. I saw walkthrus and know spoilers but I'm playing it now only for real.

Undone is tough! I kept losing!!! I was pleading, challenging, sparing and argh! I couldn't beat her! Had to look up the solution, geez.

Oh, I'm doing a true p fist run btw. I don't want to play out twice.

Aaaand i finished it. Did a regular run to end it once then did the Continue under Flowey's advice to meet with Alphys via Undyne's date letter.

Asgore was rough and I didn't know how to spare him. Was so afraid that I might kill him.

After that ending, the Amalgamates were gosh darn creepy but there was no way to lose to the final boss after that. Cried a bit tho when I was getting my friends back.

I didn't pick the 'stay' ending. I'm going through mom issues and don't really want Frisk to be mothered. I know I missed an ending with a late night good night thing.

Great game. Emotional. Great music. I'm going to look for secrets in youtube vidoes now since there's no way I'm doing a Genocide run. I've seen Megalovania and that's too tough!

I have picked up elite dangerous again. I am of the mood to fly, and broke out my saitek x52. As usual: I have NO attachment to my character or the effort put into the old save (since I usually play on single instead of the public server.) and have restarted completely.

Which works for me, cause I absolutely do not remember how to fly, and need to re-certify on pilot training anyway. But I always forget how long it takes to set up this game, not just because of the hotas, but because it uses everything. The flight stick, the xbox controller, the mouse and keyboard and all at different times. I need to make the reference card for the games default settings for the saitek, cause I need a visual reference up on my second monitor.

Just a quick note to say that I'm suppose to play Sonic Frontiers after Undertale but I tested out Hollow Knight.

I thought I got a defective copy. Every time I got hit, the sound is muted. What in the world was that?! I had to Google to find out that it's NORMAL?!?! It's so weeeeeeird! I'm going to see if there are videos on reactions to that.

Well, I'm still putting Hollow on hold since Sonic F is shorter to finish. Will probably update in the Sonic page.

It always takes ages to get configured (cause I always forget steps...) but once it works, oh is it ever beautiful. Now I just need to figure out why the supercruise toggle on the saitek isn't using the safe dismount and instead dumping me straight out.

But at that point: flicking my hand to hit "J" on the keyboard isn't too awful.

I also went from broke as a joke to a half million dollars on 20 credits worth of fuel. Literally doing courrier missions between two spots in batches of like 10 at a time. Those no data courrier missions are easy money when you're new.

I didn't sleep properly for two days, holy cow! 41 hours! I REALLY should have played Sonic Frontiers since its shorter than Hollow Knight, geez!

I'm sure I got the bad ending cuz I'm at 82% and I STILL haven't found the 'swimming in acid' traversal technique.

Where is the world is it?!?!

There's only two other bosses I haven't beaten. First is the Grey Prince Knight from the dream of the romantic lady at home base. Second is the Coliseum third fight.

If the water acid defense thing isn't in one of those, I have no idea where it could be.

Nobody answer. I'm just going to look at the rewards of the two.

Also, I did the freaking hard buzzsaw blade heaven place and the main door didn't open? Huh? I pulled the switch already. I'm going to check the scary statue underground (where I got the dark rush traversal) if that switch suddenly changed.

Well, I got to 100% by looking at stuff online. I got the Charms I missed and the acid swim ability. I thought I checked the spaces on the map thoroughly but nooOOOooo! I totally missed a bunch of easy spaces! I missed the Notch at Fog Canyon and one vessel piece at Crossroads! So annoying!

On the acid swim, I only looked for a location name. The Royal Water place. When I explored again, ugh, yeah, it was a spot I forgot that had acid on the floor. I turned around but realized that I could totally super dash Crystal zoom it! And that's when I finally found it, ugh, haha

Also finished that horrible buzzsaw White Place. I'm so dumb. I did the right side of the palace but didn't check the left side, hahaha.

That was AWFUL! But I finished it, whew. The white mask is complete.

And I STILL don't have the good ending! I have to check all over again? I need a spot that Opens the birth of something. Ugh. I'll look around but if I give up, I'll have to look up help again.

Edit - oh, turns out I don't get extra items or story progression from beating Grey Prince Zote and the coliseum of Fools part 3. Same with completing the Hunter's Journal. I looked it up. I'll skip that then.
