I think that Hot Rod looks GORGEOUS from a deco standpoint. The bolder color choices and greater contrast between the red shades just pop all around. The darker saturation on the orange and blank give a great contrast as well.
But I’m not sure, after the Studio Series, if there’s really enough there to get a buy from me. Especially not since a LOT of what I really dig about the release comes down to deco. Even if Hasbro skimps on some details, they can tweak colors enough to get close. And with Hot Rod being a “main character” these days…I’m willing to roll a dice on a redeco down the line.

I just saw local specialty store pre-order prices for the Hot Rod, and WOWWWWW that's not likely to happen for me. Not when I could buy like 3 or 4 SS86 ones for that amount.

NGL, that kinda stings. I was hoping to see if the design turned out more sturdy on an MP budget.

I thought it was Studio Series when I first saw it.

Isn't the upcoming Hotrod figure an "official OSKO" (for want of a better term) of the SS one? They've basically used the SS figure as a basis to add some extra bells and whistles in order to make a larger figure that's easier to transform than a most other MP figures whilst having the same amount of details as one?

However, the price isn't reflective of this, IMO.

"MPG-17 has been upgraded on the basis of MP10, adding wrapping and occlusion, and adding many new steps for the lower body, making the effect better and more comprehensive. This appearance is also very playable. It does not pursue the ultimate restoration of G1 animation, but has its own style.

The weapons are sufficient. In addition to guns and axes, there are also shields and double knives this time. With the sockets and mounting brackets on the toy, there are many ways to play, and they can be loaded at the same time. The toy feels good when opened, the deformation is very smooth, the movement is excellent, and it can be put into many poses.

The only uncomfortable part when playing is that the shoulders and hips are gear joints, but the gear pitch is a bit large, which will cause some restrictions when standing.

This is already the fourth MP version of Optimus Prime. It has absorbed many of the advantages of the previous game and I believe it will definitely become another classic in the future.

I kinda regret not experiencing MP-01. It's flawed, and a lot of the flaws were obvious at the time, but it's a piece of history.

I got one back when they came out, and I thought it was the coolest thing that ever had been or ever would be. Still looks great with Alternators, has a pretty good robot-mode scale thing going on with them even if he's actually too small based on the vehicle mode.

^Same. MP-10 was the last one I bought, and I still really like it. I like MP-01 too, but mainly because of how impressive he was at the time, and how exciting the news of his release was in-period.
