Got Luckycat's Bruticus boxset in. I don't normally go for these novelty SD things but the fact they transform convinced me to give it a shot. Best way I can describe them are Blokees but they transform. These guys are surpisingly detailed and articulated considering the size. Everyone has balljoint heads, shoulders, biceps, elbows, waists, and knees. They all have ankles too, but except for Vortex, they're just cosmetic tilts. Some color choices I don't agree with, like Onslaught's sky blue, Blast Off's fecal brown and Brawl's head but overall, these are aesthetically charming and handle well. Fully approved.
Everyone can transform into their G1 altmodes but chibified. Brawl's treads are static and don't have the little wheels to roll but everything is functional on these guys. I like them. They remind me of Advance Wars units.
Bruticus is surprisingly stable and well-articulated. He stays together well and the transfomation is really smart, managing to hide five oversized heads, He has universal shoulders and hips, although, the hips may be somewhat restricted by the crotchplates. Waist turns and the big head is on a balljoint. Ankles can tilt any which way on balljoints and the wrists swivel. Fingers are full articulated with two hinges and a ball joint on each finger and a hinge and a balljoint on the thumb. Despite the big, heavy head, he balances well. Some weird choices like the black for the hands and feet surface but overall, it's a spot-on Bruticus. He also comes with a toon Blast Off chest but I forgor. He wields a gun formed from combining the weapons of all 5 Combaticons. Unfortunately, Vortex's blue gun kind of ruins the coordination. The head has a magnet-activated LED light-up feature but I have no idea what kind of batteries it takes. The eyes also have an iridescent coating over them that helps keep them lively even when the eyes aren't lit.
The kibble can combine into a goomba-looking thing. It's more for the convenience of not having any separate parts than anything you'd want to display. It lets me reenact that one scene from the cartoon though!
Overall, a great set that accomplishes everything it needs to in one complete package. Not the cheapest set but I think it justifies the value between the quality, the three modes and the various display and play options.
