So what I'm getting from this is that Marco Rubio was too cheap and/or lazy to hunt down the same shoes in his actual size and secretly buy those and stash the ones he got from Trump away. Instead, he not only makes himself look silly but risks Trump noticing his too-big shoes and catching on that he was lied to.

He's probably betting on Trump being too stupid, lazy, and senile to notice. Which, to be fair, is a safe bet, but there's always a chance someone else would notice and tell Trump about it to get him mad.

So do you have an actual link to that? Because I literally typed that text into Google and it came up with nothing.

Given how “source illiterate” modern social media is? It might well be something created just to stir the pot. I recall seeing a comment/report that Trump was “mulling” over the idea of removing the US from the NATO alliance (since nobody wants to help him clean up the mess he made in the Gulf). Frankly, the Starmer “fake post” has more balls than I would expect from a real post from a politician.

Possibly. Mastodon(especially that instance) is usually better about these sort of things because it's not algorithm-driven, and that instance is aimed towards Information Security professionals who should know about sourcing. I would have linked him to begin with but there wasn't anything else informative in his original post(if the screenshot had been correct).

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Which is functionally an unfair statement because trump has been "mulling over" pulling the US from nato since his first abortion of a mandate. To whit, while I agree with the not-real starmer post: no politician has that kind of ballsack: because such statements are career enders. If the US doesn't get him, his voters will when he is completely incapable of living up to it.

This is where AI has a genuine use case in this stupid new world of ours. It takes mere seconds to have Grok scour a gazillion records and say "No, this isn't a real post." or "This is unrelated footage from 2023." It is easier than ever to create a hoax, but harder than ever to do it without getting caught.

It's where a smart search algorithm has a genuine use case.

But when people use "AI" to so searches or get factual answers it's usually "generative AI" which is capable of "finding" things that never existed before.

FB friend:
Trump inspires people by showing that you can be anything you want to be ... if you inherited hundreds of millions of dollars from Daddy and you're a ruthless c*nt.
NATO requires member countries to defend other member countries when they are attacked. When Trump insists that NATO members have an obligation to help the US prosecute its war against Iran, he is basically pretending that Iran attacked first. And I have zero doubt that his right-wing media apparatus will attempt to convince people that this is true.

Let the gaslighting begin!
In typical gangster fashion, Trump is now warning NATO of a "very bad future" if they don't do what he says.

What's this "bad future" going to look like? Will it be a future where America openly talks about annexing NATO allies? Because we're already in that future.

Trump is learning one of the perils of abusing your power in real-time: if you're already abusing it, then you can't threaten to abuse it. You can't bully people people by threatening to do something that you're already doing. What's the point of them doing what you want, if you'll probably do the bad thing anyway?
