Maybe it was a time/budget thing.

You see, I never liked this argument. Like, let me just say that I'm still playing this and I'm enjoying it. But I can still feel the input lag and feel others are totally within their rights to be pissed.

And yes, these things can be patched. In fact, they can be easily patched. There's no reason why they can't. I'm sure eventually everything will be patched and everything will be fine.

Except that a lot of people already feel burned. A lot of people have been warned off about getting this game. And a lot of these people aren't going to care anymore once it's been patched. It's too little too late. The train has already left the station.

This whole thing of "release it now, patch it later," I mean, look, I played Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS4 and never once thought about returning it. But that's me. That's my story. Fact is, there are other people who aren't quite so forgiving and frankly, NRS has already lost a bunch of sales they probably won't be able to get back later.

"Release now, patch later" is a poison that the industry has unfortunately ingested way too much of.

I’d almost bet real money money all the “missing stuff” ends up in a DLC pack later on

It wouldn't surprise me.

The only thing I'd really want would be MK Gold. Sucker that I am, I probably would buy it as paid DLC if they did that. And like you said, it wouldn't surprise me. But I also think they'd be inviting a lot of blowback to have deliberately left out this one game they knew everyone wanted as part of the base collection only to come back later and say "hey, now you can get it for $10." People would decry that they're milking us for more money for something that should've been part of the base package, and for once, they'd be right to do so.

Totally agree, though I'm inclined to think the directive would have come from somewhere higher up the chain.

Well, here's some good news for Steam and PlayStation players. A hotfix has been dropped that fixed quite a few things. I don't have all the patch notes with me, but one of my biggest issues has been dealt with, that being input lag. I just played it and it feels a lot better. Also holding the button to bring up the menu is a lot faster. There were some fixes for online, though from what I've seen it's still a cross your fingers and hope type thing.

Still, my biggest issue of input lag is significantly better. And at the very least, this tells you that they are working on it, which is good.

Again, though, this is Steam, PS4 and PS5. Switch and X-Box are still waiting.

I just bought Mortal Kombat 1 for Xbox Series X and it's downloading. Just to be on the safe side, I discovered that it's on sale on Switch e shop at the moment so I bought definitive edition for Switch 2 but hope there's a upgrade pack in the future though suspect if anything we'll see a Switch 2 version ported from the ground up but it's more feasible there will be a Mortal Kombat 2 port before anything like that (n)ever happens.

I'm confused by the Mortal Kombat 2 part.

You don't think that Mortal Kombat 1 is the original game, right?

So, okay, there's an observation I made that I kinda felt like posting here. But every time I was about to do it, I was like "so what? It's a nothing observation. It's not worth mentioning." Well, you know what? I'm going to make it.

This is the first time the original Mortal Kombat has been on a Nintendo system with all of its blood.

The original SNES version infamously had no blood. Starting with MK2 on SNES, all MK games would have the blood, even on the Nintendo systems. But they never went back and gave the OG its blood. Even when Sony or Microsoft (or both) had the original Arcade Game included with...it was either Deception or Armageddon...I want to say Armageddon...and then even later had an Arcade collection with MK1, MK2 and UMK3...Nintendo didn't get those collections.

This collection is the first time the first Mortal Kombat game has been on a Nintendo system with all its blood and gore intact.

Okay, I know this may be a weird thing to "complain" about, but here we are. On the Legacy Kollection, I'm playing on Switch 2 which I believe is supposed to be the most lag free of the console versions. It feels like it plays really well. But they must've upped the the AI on the SNES version of MK1.

On the original SNES version, I had cheese strategies that worked all the way through Very Hard Mode. Assuming I didn't get Kano or Liu Kang on the bridge, I could often get Reptile and finish the entire game undefeated. I could cheese my way through the endurance matches with little to no problem. But on the Legacy Collection, even playing Medium seems to have taken most of my cheese options. I mean, just playing the game like I'm playing the game, I still do well. But I'm still not making it even to the mirror match before I have to continue. They've taken away my cheese!

Just created this image using Microsoft Copilot AI on a whim. Now it feels like this absolutely needs to happen.

I got to see the Karl Urban Mortal Kombat 2.

I kinda loved it.

NO SPOILERS but no extra scene at the end.

I feel like everybody had a pretty good arc of sorts (even a minor one).

I loved the fact that I was mislead about one thing in the trailer.

I absolutely loved one bit which I'll mention if folks really watch it.

Hmm, two negatives that I don't think are spoilers. I don't like the final arena cuz the others were pretty good. And maybe a bit of the pop culture references. To be fair, people laughed it. But there was a bunch of Pennywise and Squid Game references.

I say watch it!
