They kind of wrote themselves into a corner with Zeo where Zordon claimed the Zeo Crystal that provided their powers was a source of perpetual energy that would only get more powerful. The Zeo powers in theory could have just been what they had forever.
And even then, they never really brought that up again after the first episode or so. It's the fans who kept reiterating that.

And they didn't even try to say they got destroyed in Turbo. They just...have cars now.

Guess this is the best place for it

SUPER SENTAI IS DEAD AND GOZUYGER IS WHAT KILLED IT!

Speculation is Toei really really liked how Zeztze was received and wants more. And what better way to do so then with Super Sentai. But Hasbro now has the international(read United States) rights for distribution of Super Sentai and are only interested in squatting on it so they can turn out more Might Morphin' crap. So, speculation is that Toei is ending Super Sentai in order to get around Hasbro.

Ironbite-very interesting.

Wow. Just shy of the 50th series, too.

Or just break away from TV Asashi.

Also.. I hate to say it.. but it's the same problem Transformers has. If people want to move away from MMPR.. They need to buy Non MMPR merch. Pure and simple.

I don't know if it counts as MMPR -- I think of it as "other" -- but I would have liked to have gotten a Master Morpher, but Hasbro decided to be jerks about it and make it a limited release...

And Zeo... and Turbo... and Dino Thunder... and first appeared in Super Ninja Steel...

Like, definitely rooted in MMPR, but then, so much of the franchise is.

This. You know what got Hasbro to commit to doing more continuities in Generations? People buying non-G1 stuff to prove there was a market for it. The third leg of the WfC trilogy was going to be all about the 1986 cast, with a few '84-'85 guys to fill it out, until someone at Hasbro noticed that Beast stuff sold well. So they leaned into it and made that third leg Kingdom. Which sold enough to not just get more Beast stuff in Legacy and beyond, but get Hasbro comfortable enough to lean into even more continuities. Cybertron Metroplex sold well enough to convince Hasbro they could do more non-G1 Titans.
As a JG1 fan, I can say that we probably never would have gotten Galaxy Shuttle or Minerva if the Victory HasLab stuff didn't fund. But it did, and Hasbro saw that.

With Power Rangers... for as much as Power Rangers fans complain about the constant MMPR retreads, it does seem to be the most consistently successful stuff at retail.
Like... had PlayMates leaned into In Space for their first round of PR stuff sure that would have made most of the fanbase happy... but by all available metrics it would have a much smaller potential audience then another MMPR rehash would.

I don't like it- my favourite PR series is Lost Galaxy and I've all but given up on new stuff for it- but I understand it.

Hasbro ran the Lightning Collection as a cross-franchise anthology line for years. I'm sure PlayMates is privy to those sales figures. And they probably see that MMPR stuff was far and away the most popular movers.

So none of this will change unless one of the few times Hasbro or PlayMates or whoever steps outside of the MMPR safety zone it's met with overwhelming sales success.

ANYWAY
It's still MMPR but PlayMates seems to be cooking with something here. It's just MMPR X Godzilla... but it's new. It's creative. It's fresh. Assuming it's real. Lots of debate on that... but I will say this looks a little too good to be an AI fake.

I'm leaning towards real.

If it were fake, they'd probably know to give Green Ranger the Dragon Dagger instead of a pair of Blade Blasters.
