Their meme game remains on point. So is their game references. I'm familiar with Souls games enough to "see" stuff like the second phase and the telegraphed "area attacks", and other tropes of the current gaming meta to appreciate what they're doing here. And I'm totally down for it.

I think the rolling dodge thing, too.

I also noticed how this episode really makes it clear that they made Scorponok a much more G1-esque purple than the bright blue that his toy is.

That was really weird, in hindsight.

I know that these TV Shows Made To Sell Toys have historically always been bad at looking like The Toys The TV Shows Were Made To Sell, but...

Is it weird that I had higher expectations from a filler line? Like, I wouldn't expect them to stray as far creatively, and yet... well, I guess maybe they haven't yet, but that's still weird to me.

Especially for The Big Expensive* Toy Of The Line.

Anyway, from the front page...

* Relatively speaking.

But I do honestly love that they gave him that line.

No new episode today, either. Instead, a compilation of the first nine episodes has been uploaded:

This is where I debate with myself whether I want to bother making a new post for this or not.

I guess I could just repackage my old material from the previous posts. That's what they did, after all.

I hope the animators are on sane work schedules, because if they're under the usual health-killing Crunch and we still don't get five new minutes a week...something's gone horribly wrong.

Yeah, but I’m going with the slightly more positive spin of this being Hasbro’s attempt to “space out” content for marketing purposes and not trend too far ahead in introducing characters that aren’t necessarily available at retail.

Then again, we’ve seen Chop Shop introduced along with Elita and Skybyte, while Galvatron, Wheeljack and the alt versions of Prime and BB haven’t been shown at all. Heck, AFAIK, Mirage hasn’t appeared at retail, being a Walmart exclusive.

Heck my Walmart just THIS WEEK got their holiday planograms, so I WANT to say it’s an issue of Hasbro marketing trying to keep the show “consistent” with products on the shelves.
