Studio Series discussion

Sunstorm is a seeker repaint in a sea of seeker repaints. There's only 13 characters to compete with in the Fallen's category and he's only second to Vector Prime in terms of appearances and relevance in what he did appear in.

He's also not colored like a creamsicle.

So anyway, make a damn Sunstorm already. There will soon be two Earth mode seeker molds to choose from.

Hell, make it a 2-pack with SS86 Bumblebee and a bunch of blast effects. Just get it done.

New Soundwave images from Hasbro employee Nate Purswell. Everything looks good and if that's the shade of blue in-hand, I'm good with it. New Soundwave's about 6 and a half inches tall which is indeed taller than Old Soundwave but the less stumpy proportions make him seem significantly taller than that. The birds are kind of a downgrade but at least you get both at once and Ravage is a huge improvement. I think it's a worthy purchase. Hopefully the tape door has more clearance this time. The studio Series Frumble mold keeps getting stuck.

At least this makes clear that the panel left missing/mistransformed in the stock photo/render is intact.

There was a pretty dumb Facebook post that tried to insinuate that no, it's cool, it's supposed to look like that because that's where the headphones plug in.

There's something about it that's messing with my eyes in terms of how I perceive the proportions. Maybe it's that I keep looking for the WFC mold's proportions, or maybe it's the head size, or whatever, but there's a gangliness to this when seen head-on that is minimized from a 3/4 view. Maybe it'll be like WFC Galvatron whose photos always had weird proportions but looked decent in person.

Maybe they should just make these Leader class boxes a BIT smaller. Even with the usual "scatter everything to create the illusion of plenty/value" approach, the impression is not favorable. Especially when you know the entire space behind the artwork is going to be an empty gulf. This isn't just Soundwave (who's a Voyager really); Megatron has this impression too.

I want awesome representations of the characters. They don’t *have* to turn into a cassette now. We’ve had that almost constantly. Let the designs breathe a little.

Man, I wanted that SO bad, but never found it.

Glad I got the new one, at least.

The cassettes still suck, but I'm liking what I'm seeing from Soundwave. Proportions look fine to me.

It's all part of Hasbro's evil mastermind plot to get people to buy multiple Soundwaves in order to get the perfect version of him and all his minions:

• Laserbeak: Netflix
• Buzzsaw: Legacy United
• Rumble: Studio Series 86
• Frenzy: Studio Series 86
• Ratbat: Studio Series 86
• Ravage: whichever version you prefer since you'll get three Ravages to choose from between SS86 Soundwave, Netflix Soundwave, and Legacy United Soundwave

I'm never gonna display them in tape mode anyway, so it's not that important to me. Soundwave looks good, though, and I haven't bought a G1 Soundwave since the MP at TRU.
