What stupid thing did the GOP say or do this time? Episode 3!

No, not really. I'd call it an escalation from what was then the norm, but nowhere near the levels we're at.

They found the gun, an old mossberg 30.06 with a shitty scope attached. And they released a picture of a suspect. Quell surprise, it's a white male.

2004 wasn't this bad but it wasn't great. There were shots fired into campaign field offices disturbingly often, and lots of talk about the election potentially being stolen, which obviously resonated after 2000.

Well well well ... according to Charlie Kirk's own logic, he is responsible for his own death.

Roughly 80 to 100 people are killed by guns every day in America. Yesterday, one of them was Charlie Kirk. And not surprisingly, he is the ONLY victim of yesterday's gun violence that the GOP cares about.
Anyone who actually falls for the usual Republican about-face from "LOL cry more, let me send more money to Kyle Rittenhouse" to "OMG what about the sanctity of human life" after the death of a Republican influencer is clearly too stupid to vote.
Everyone who cheered for the extrajudicial execution of 11 Venezuelans or who thought "Alligator Alcatraz" was a great idea can kindly shut the hug up about how they feel bad for Charlie Kirk and they revere human life.
How do we know that Charlie Kirk wasn't just killed in a surgical strike for being a terrorist? It's not like anyone needs to present actual evidence for that anymore. Just SAYING it seems to be enough for millions of conservatives to rise up and declare the killing justified, or at least that's how it works when the victims are brown.
Charlie Kirk deserves as much sympathy as he gave to others: zero.

About Charlie Kirk . . . wasn't sure what to think about him as a person, because when it came to his actions, I wanted to see what was spin and what was real. He's honestly been almost completely off my radar because he doesn't come up on the news websites I go to often enough for me to remember him, and I don't have social media. I'm getting a pretty good picture of what he was like now, though.

About his family . . . I'm sorry for their loss.

About 2004 . . . I'd love a refresher here. I had so much personal/financial drama going on at that point that I was barely aware of what was going on outside of what was immediately in front of me.

You're not alone; I genuinely wouldn't have been able to tell you who Charlie Kirk was before this incident either, and even now I'm not entirely sure I've ever heard his name before in my life. Dude wasn't exactly Tucker Carlson or Alex Jones.

And that, I'll concede, is one reason I'm willing to entertain the idea that this was a false flag. His own side would have considered him expendable, and anyone genuinely out to murder an important right wing individual out of hate would have had pages of names to burn through before he ever came up.

Only reason I knew who he was is because I'm in one of the groups he liked to target with his rhetoric. I hate how he's being held up in the media as some sort of hero right now. He was not, he was purveyor of hate. Still, he was a human and he did have people close to him that cared for him and I am sorry for their loss.

I don't watch the news, but I can 100% believe every single mainstream outlet is sucking his decaying dick just as hard as Fox News and OAN are right now. It was inevitable. The only difference between the Establishment and the Other Establishment is how long they can leave the mask on.

I'm sorry for his family. I'm especially sorry for those kids. It will be a long time before they can even begin to understand what happened. And I'm sorry for the country. Things are more dangerous than they were two days ago.

The media is using him as yet another distraction for Trump's latest antics. Or his health. Latest video of him from the 9/11 memorial service looks like he had a stroke. No, not mocking for once, an actual stroke.

Worst part is the TRN is obviously professionally stamped into the casing, not etched into it like a person would do to make a point.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.
Citizen
No, the worst part is that they deliberately gutted the investigative mechanisms so they can absolutely control the narrative. Even if trumps regime wasn't incompetent: they wouldn't catch the murderer anyway; they need to turn kirk into a martyr for the cause and can't do that if the shooter is once again a straight, white, christian conservative.

They actually NEED to catch him(or at least catch SOMEONE who may have not been involved at all but they can pin in on), otherwise they can't claim victory and tout how good they are at fighting crime. I'm expecting they are going to arrest some member of a minority group with little evidence they were involved and ram them through the courts to get a conviction as fast as possible. The current DoJ doesn't care about justice, they only care about the illusion of results and hurting whomever they deem an enemy.

Also why are taxpayers having to pay to have his body transported on a US government aircraft? He was never part of the government and never served in the military. He was just a gasbag who spewed garbage on TV. It's demeaning to the USAF members who had to carry his coffin onto Air Force Two. He has done nothing to warrant that honor.

Because Trump wants to play him up as a martyr and nobody in any position of power has the balls to say no. They're gonna ride this until it stops being news, or until a new scandal shows up, whichever comes first.

If they're smart they won't stop when a new scandal shows up, because they'll need this to distract people from it. (I'm going off the assumption that all scandals going forward will be the Republicans' doing.)
