Gotta Catch 'Em All! - Pokémon Thread

Yeah, this is just a reveal for Mega Victreebel for Legends Z-A. It's almost disappointing that this isn't for a new game. Or a new Detective Pikachu game. Sorry if I disappointed anyone. I just didn't want to ruin the surprise.

This trailer just kind of makes me want a "horror" game set in the Pokemon world. I think they could actually pull it off.

I do hope we get more trailers like this for the other new Megas. This is kind of a fun surprise. I wasn't expecting a little story, even though they did the same thing with a few new Pokemon for Legends Arceus. They kind of like going to the horror well for the Legends trailers, I guess.

As for Mega Victreebel itself...yeah, this is another more goofy one. Maybe they're getting all the weird ones out of the way first, before they show us any of the "cool" new ones? But, I don't know, this one is just more fat with a leaf-crown. It's fine, I guess. And I suppose Victreebel needed something, so that people would remember that it exists. I don't think this will end up being one of my favorites, but who knows? Maybe it's special ability or range is really good in battle. Maybe it's secretly really broken and fun to use? It's got some charm. I'm not sure if I want it on my Legend Z-A team or anything. But, it's fine.

Yeah, I guess this is going to be a thing from now on for probably most of the new Mega Evolutions. We're getting a little animation and a little introduction video. So, we might be getting 24 or so more of these, if the rumors are true.

Pretty great reveal of the new Mega. I am a sucker for "Whoa"-filled music.

As for Mega Hawlucha itself? I actually really like this one. I know this is probably based on a champtionship luchador outfit. But, it really reminds me of the Green Ranger or the Gold Ranger from Power Rangers. It's the gold mantle. I think this is the first new Mega that I unreservedly just straight-up LIKE. This one just looks GOOD! Even if they did basically just give Hawlucha a new hat.

Malamar gets cancelled!

I'll admit, I like how unique this short was. Having it be a live action news report is something we haven't really see Pokemon do before.

It's funny how they consistently portray Malamar as being at least slightly evil. In the anime, and now here.


Onto the actual Mega Evolution itself, I kind of like it. Suitably alien-looking (which makes a lot of sense, if you watched the anime episodes it showed up in. Though, this one seems very much based on the alien from the Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man", if the big head and high collar is any hint.). And I like the colorful rainbow strobe light effect it's got going on with it's belly. The way it's constantly drawing circles in the air with it's tentacles. This one's got style.

I doubt I'll have it on my team, personally. But, I do like it. Who knows though...maybe I'll be compelled to have a all-Malamar team by the end of the game.

I like all three of the Kalos Starter Megas. Still debating on who I'm going to want. I'm leaning towards Mega Chesnaught, since I like that design the best. But, Greninja's handy to have around, too.

Although, apparently you can only get the Mega Stones by playing ranked matches online. For 3 different seasons, so you can't even get then all at once. You're going to have to wait until "Season 2 and 3" to get the other two Mega Stones, with them starting at launch with Mega Greninja. That's...annoying. By the time they actually come out, you'll probably be finished with the game. But, at least it's just the Mega Stones.

Not sure how I feel about them promoting the DLC before the game's even out. Nothing new, really, but it is a little...money grubbing. And apparently, the DLC is $30, which feels a little high sight unseen. Are we getting a whole new area to explore, or will it just be new "missions"? I'll probably bite, but I'm not happy about it. Hoopa's cool, though. And hey...these new Megas weren't leaked! So, we might be seeing some Megas we didn't know about showing up as DLC.

Pokopia is interesting. Pokemon meets Animal Crossing. Not really my thing, but I could see it getting big. Some of the customization is kind of impressive. I like the windmills and the flowers.
