Quite an upgrade, there. The Energon team will always hold a special place for me, since I found Steamhammer on the same trip where I first met my wife (which is probably also why he's the only one whose name I can remember), but dayum.
Could've sworn I had the Build Team recolor from Universe, but I can't find it anywhere.
It really is a wonderful set all around. The only thing I'd knock points of is how Hook's transformation locking together never feels quite right.
I had a hard time getting Hook's legs to lock in in combiner mode. Looked up a couple of videos and it turned out the answer really was to just push it in harder. Now everything's rock solid. Biggest problem now is where the hell I'm gonna put this behemoth.
Yeah I just kind of push and jostle stuff around until suddenly his legs are locked in. It’s a strange design but eh it works. They kind of aware of it as well, hence why his shins are easy to pull apart and reassemble to prevent breakage. It's secure once you get the parts there though.

painted over some of Cutthroat’s orange with purple and colored the gun more uniformly. Abominus’s gun is traditionally gray but this set came with a pink Hun Grr rifle so I split the difference.

For reference here is the stock gun configuration, more or less. I can almost buy the insane color palette but Blot and Rippersnapper's guns are the same color, kind of ruining the Power Rangers-esque garish super weapon vibe. The big blue gun under the pink was even more garishly colored out of the box with all the silver parts on it being the same red as on the side panels.

Bought Dr. Wu’s Squawkbox. Overall, toy is excellently engineered with simple, effective transformations and just enough detail to make the different modes work. Tolerances are decent but the combined hip joints are pretty loose and the cassette modes get stuck inside soundwave.To be fair, official cassettes have that problem too but still. beastbox makes for a wonderful little munky toy but Squawktalk is kind of a crappy bird with giant blocky wings and barely any body.
i don’t think I’ve owned a figure with a skirt this short even when I was into anime figurines.

Love that set. Yeah, Beastbox is definitely the star of the show. Squalktalk's wings are just too compromised by having to become legs. But a great tiny robo-gorilla and a great combined robot mode make it worth the price of admission.
