Ouch with the death of Kelley. Never liked Fansville and never watched The Walking Dead, but what makes her death really sad is that she died from cancer at such a young age, which further proves cancer does not discriminate by age and we need to find a cure for it.

And while Hulk Hogan has done a lot of bad things, I prefer to remember him for his wrestling (even though I saw him most in the later WCW years during his Hollywood Hogan phase, especially that bad Halloween Havoc 1998 match against Ultimate Warrior, as a lot of wrestling fans accusing WCW of only bringing in Warrior so Hogan can get revenge since Warrior beat him in Wrestlemania VI). He may be a bad liar, but he was a better entertainer when in the ring and acting in TV shows and movies (I really liked his minor appearance in Rocky III as Thunderlips).

I really liked watching his show Thunder in Paradise as a kid, and Suburban Commando is a classic to me. I watched his early WWF run as a kid, and that is what I think about as well. There is enough good memories of him to wipe out the bad, at least for me.

This is always a thing to me with guys like him, the person he was off screen might have been a piece of jive; but the person he was on screen brought some good into the world by being an inspiration and an idol. Terry Bollea being a shitty person shouldn't completely taint Hulk Hogan's actions. Just like any actor or creator that has good work, work that helped people even if its as little as bringing joy, shouldn't be cast out completely becuase the that actor or creator is a horrible person or done horrible things.

I still like Hulk Hogan the Actor and Wrestler, Terry can go to hell. I still like Harry Potter (Not as much as I once did, but I can't excise it completely), even if JKR needs to hurry up and expire. There's plenty of others too where I feel the same, about liking the stuff they did before being revealed as a villian, and I can't hate that stuff even now. I know for some on the internet that might make me a bad person, but I just can't throw the baby out with the toxic bathwater.

As someone who personally knew a highly respected authority figure who later turned out to be a huge scumbag, F these people who put up a front and disguise themselves, who abuse their power. They don't even recognize that what they're doing is wrong, b/c they have so many "yes men" and/or they refuse to acknowledge that they might be wrong. Hell, a lot of my own family is like this (minus the highly respected authority positions). It taints all the good things they did. I will never forget or forgive them.

Well, at first I thought it was just a matter of his political affiliation...which, I'll say no more on that...particularly outside P&R.

It wasn't until the past couple days I learned about how he sandbagged any chance of the WWF getting unionized (which is a whole other can of worms), a rather racist thing he said and pretty much single handedly breaking the WCW.

I still don't want to speak ill of the dead, particularly in this thread. I also still like Suburban Commando, some other cameos he made and I also remember the things (he said) he stood for when I was a kid.

At the same time, I'm starting to rethink the support I threw his way earlier in the thread,

Yeah. I did enjoy Hogan as a kid (but my fave was Randy Savage). I still believe in some separation of enjoying an aspect of something/someone aside from the bad things, b/c just about everything has some horrible aspect to it. But learning about people you admire (esp as a kid) being shitty hurts. I don't expect or want people to be perfect, but yeah. Eg, the Cosby thing was crushing.
