There are two versions of Studio Series Perceptor. You got the second version, which has a retooled chest and arms because someone at Hasbro wasn't satisfied with the accuracy of the first version. It was already fine, but they made it better, I guess.

I suspect they just wanted to make Ramhorn but they ran out of slots for new characters, but they had a remold slot, so they included him with Perceptor.

yeah, lost the core slot so they had to make it a pack in. I wonder which was actually the first reason they did this, to make Perceptor more accurate, or to make Ramhorn and justify it with Perceptor

And leaving Magnificat as the toy head oddity. Magnificus was a new head retool of the first version Perceptor right?

Whats the betting that Hasbro will, at some point, re-re-re-release this Perceptor, but with the toy head now. I mean, I’m kinda surprised that hasn’t happened yet anyway.

They’re saving that for a “retro-packaged” version of Perceptor.

why did they change the retro line from toon deco reissues of g1 toys to toy deco releases of modern toys lol

Got my Sky Byte today. Oh, I’m sorry Hasbro, I didn’t realize I ordered a High Grade kit and put my clippers away. It’s trivially easy to stick everything in the right place but leaving the fins on the sprue is weird. He’s good but the part where the arms slide along pins is really not something I expected from an official toy.

Also got Star Convoy, Crasher and Alchemist but haven’t opened those yet

Been going through some boxes and weeding out some figures that I'm going to move on. Some random thoughts:
- Based on what I've kept and sold over the years, I definitely lean toward deluxe and smaller figures.
- Not all of 'em were winners, but man the scout class ROTF guys were overall good stuff, and so were a lot of the deluxes.
- I really kinda miss random nameslaps and redecos. Especially the crazy ones (hi, Prime Dead End).
- I've gotten very lucky with clear plastic over the years.
- The time between Cybertron and the '07 movie was wild. So much random stuff.
- My god Thrilling 30 really was that long ago.
- So was 2007.
- Energon Decepticons were generally pretty awesome toys. Energon Autobots (bigger than basics) were...ambitious, to their detriment.
- Minicons, minicons, minicons. Hasbro, please do a retail deco of the Star Saber you gave to PulseCon Nemesis Prime.
- Star Wars TFs were never really great. The ones that didn't try to be a specific character were better, but they're still not great.
- Please let AOTP Armada Jetfire be good at being both a robot and a pair of pants. The OG is a statue, but he's a good-looking statue.

Remember when Unite Warriors Dragstrip painted his shoulders black to pretend they're wheels and his seat silver to pretend it was an engine? Yeah.

Can't forget all those times any non-tape player Soundwave toy gets put into a kama sutra pose and fans go "look, he's a boombox!"
