The “Other” G2 Dinobots…

As we know, Hasbro is releasing a set of the G2 Dinobots. Grimlock (Blue) is already out while Snarl (Red) and Slag (Green) just went up for Preorder. One of the leaks also mentioned an upcoming Sludge (Brown? Orange?) and Swoop (Neon Green?)

However, we have “Tigerstrike” Grimlock which is (IMO) a much cooler, more interesting scheme. If Hasbro decided to do the other four along those lines what would you like to see as the colors/designs for them?

Well, since Blue+Green Swoop, and the Orange+Purple Sludge were conceived with Yellow Grimlock (And would theoretically have been released together) we only need outlandish schemes for Snarl and Slug.

And more 'traditional' G2 schemes for Swoop and Sludge. (unchanged robot chest colors, with a solid color for the Dino-parts.)

I'll think about them.

EDIT: Working list.
EDIT: reasearch.
EDIT: DONE! I thought way too hard about this!

'Traditional G2". Inspired by the Power Rangers teams-different, solid colors for each member- we already used Red, Blue and Green, leaving out of the standard CORE team colors: Yellow, Black, and Pink. A pink Dinobot would not have flown in the 90's so that's out. So I'm thinking:

Sludge in a non-glossy black on the dino-parts/robot limbs
Swoop who, aside from his chest, face and arms, would be a Deep Yellow (admittedly, that is not much more than his legs). While I'd like his wings in a gold chrome, the unchanged chrome on the rest of the TG2 nixes that.

"Duo-Schemes" (pending)

Okay, this was harder. There is no color unity among the 3 proposed dinobot, and their individual schemes don't follow and color patterns or theory, or even taste. I looked at logos for sport teams, and no one in their right mind would make a logo with ugly G2 Dinobot colors. Then I thought: who among that time were as reckless with tacky colors as Hasbro's Transformers team? Hasbro's G.I. Joe team! So I searched "yellow g.i. joe vehicle", and among the Tiger Force and Adventure Team vehicles was The Badger. Granted the picture was from a ebay auction and, while I quickly found out the toys is a neon green, the lighting made it look yellow. A pic from Transformersland made it look more yellow than green, but the weapons were blue! Not turquoise, but it's something to go on!

So with Sludge's scheme- orange with purple- lead me to the Parasite.
Swoop.....there are plenty silver G.I. Joe vehicles, plus he tends to break patterns anyway, so I had my inspiration: 90's G.I. joe vehicles! Naturally excluding any that are green and/or red to prevent redundancies from TG2 Snarl and Slug. Plus, to keep within the rules I hold only myself to: vehicles named after creatures.

SNARL: Light blue (dino) with a yellow chest, inspired by the Cobra Barracuda.
SLUG: White-white (dino) with navy blue chest, inspired by the Cobra Ice Snake

I feel like Swoop is more a wave mate for that Grimlock.

Sludge seems very much the same as the other G2 Dinos (solid color outside with different chest)

See, the 'traditional' G2 colors retain the colors from the G1 toys, only changing dino-specific parts: Gold chest and red 'trunks' on Grimlock, and red chests on Snarl/Slug. So the silver chest of the proposed Swoop, along with the purple chest on Sludge puts them on the same 'team' as turquoise-chest/yellow dino-parts Grimlock. Gonna call them "duo-schemes" for ease.

This is all info I'm processing to come up with Duo-schemes for Snarl and Slug, as well as TG2 schemes for Sludge and Swoop. Swoop not having much dino-bulk that forms his robot- NOT counting his kibble.

Not sure who should get each, but I’d love to see these designs (re)used

Maybe a giraffe pattern too?

For me, the best answer is colors and patterns from Jurassic Park: Chaos Effect.

But less excitingly, we have enough color variants for at least another trio of the first Dinobots: turquoise Grimock, red Slug, green Snarl. That could go with, idk, a purple Sludge and a Power Rangers-y pink Swoop.
