Yikes, I looked back and it was month ago when I was seeing Discovery eps. I actually saw up to the last two eps of s2 and... just paused.

Anyhow, recalling stuff

- don't like Spock with the beard. Also folks should know about fake holo stuff, cmon.
- Airiam the cyborg died. They could have given her more attention before she died. But her death flags background stuff was nice. And she died. Ugh, she was visually cool and useful. They should have killed someone else.
-oookay the Red Angel was the mom. But I'm sure Burnham will be the Red Angel in the end too.
- I actually liked Leland the guy who was responsible to Burnham's parents being targeted. Him being infected by nanobots is gross and makes me think the Control will be the Borg in the end.
- oooookay I always wondered why the Klingon homeworld named 'Chronos'. Sooo did Disco make them Time crystal keepers cuz of the 'Chronos' sounding name? Haha. Oh and I guess the baby of Section31 Klingon guy isn't Mogh since he's an adult time crystal keeper guy.
- hugh and Stammets, stop futzing about your state of love, the universe needs saving!
- guess the last ep will have the last two signals and everything will wrapped up nicely. Maybe strand Burnham and Disco in the future so we can have progressive Trek eps?

Just the final ep of s2 and I'll watch an ep every day until the end (36 eps?), so can be ready for July 17 Strange New World, woo!

Literally the smartest thing they could’ve done, given the corner they painted themselves into.

Saw the s2 finale.

The space fight was pretty great, I'd say. Also the Leland vs Michelle Yeoh vs whatshername. Really good effects.

The signals thing was a cool, since it is time travel. I'm ok with Leland and I'm still sorry he died.

Yeah, he shaved, haha.

I had to check info on Tilly's friend with the tattoos and... Short Treks? I have to watch Short Treks? I have to watch it first before Discovery s3, in case there's more references.

Saw s1 of Short Treks

1- Tilly meeting the queen was pretty basic but that's ok

2- did that guy go home? He had Disco on his shirt so this was hinting that the end of s2 Discovery had the crew all die and the ship was alone for decades? Does this get a follow up?

3- Saru origin, sure

4- Mudd, ok. Could have been shorter but nice twist.

5- wasn't wild about Spock and Una in an elevator. But, hey, Strange New Worlds.

6- I remember seeing this before! I think I watched it when I heard about Tribbles. Tribble being man made is gross, with the DNA. Is the name Edward important? Like the writer that created the Tribble?

7- I hate those tests like that. Trek always shows the Captains breaking the rules and following emotions over logic etc etc so putting that lady in a test and making her strictly follow the rules... I don't know what to think. Hollywood narrative goes for follow emotions (her husband is in danger) and blindly following orders is bad too. But then she wouldn't have gotten the post if she followed her emotions. And it's a mind game. She wouldn't be able to trust captain Pike after this. I don't like this one.

8- Burnham as a kid, typical.

9- very cute on the ripper tardigrade! I know the giant hand from TOS, the space grid from Q from Next Gen but what's that middle spine tunnel thing? Also I didn't like the Abraham Lincoln thing. Was that an adventure time reference? Or did I forget an Abraham appearance in TOS? I'm not into the robot cleaner cuz they're not a common thing in Trek. Could have been an Exo Comp from Next Gen?

10- I thought it was going to be a alien racial thing going on, with the two girls fighting. Guess not?

I suppose I'll watch s2 of Short Treks next. Any more ancillary Trek stuff I should watch out for? I saw Very Short Treks already.

That was pretty cool, hehe

Aaand turns out s2 of Short Treks was the rest of the ten eps. Guess I saw everything.

Saw ep1 of s3. So 930ish years into the future after pre TOS. I was hoping it would be Picard s3, Lower Decks s5 time so Discovery can make new lore instead of backtracking. But an alternate timeline with a Burn destroying the Federation? Eh.

The alien animals were awesome tho.

Not really an alternate timeline the way that term is usually intended. This is intended to be the same timeline as, say, Picard s3. Just much farther into the future.
I'm going to assume that Disco will make the Burn future into an alternate timeline by going into the past to remove it. The Federation being in shambles means that Picard, Janeway, Sisko, Freeman failed or so. Very depressing so am gonna assume it will be erased.

Am in ep7 so halfway done. Adira Tal will probably be important else why bother bringing her in except for the kid character appeal. Fun seeing a Trill symbiont again. I forgot other races can take in the symbiont.

The head of the Federation looks like ... that funny Parks and Red guy but with a beard.

The new Vulcan Romulan planet is cool but turning it into all about Burnham is an eye roll. Finding the mom and putting her on the bus is an OK wrap up.

From the Shorts with the Discovery ship having an affair ish with that lost pilot, would have been funny if that guy was Grudge's owner and Burnham's current love interest.

Aaaand I'm done with s3.

They wasted two eps saying goodbye to Michelle Yeoh.

The Aldira pronouns thing could have been more understated, since I'm sure lots of aliens have that thing translated but, yeah, that representation could be a lifeline to some person out there.

Oded Fehr was the Federation head?!?! Dang, I knew he looked familiar but I couldn't place him.

THAT'S the cause of the Burn? Dang.

When was Lower Decks to Discovery s3? Because of Tendi, I see Orions are nice, even though she says they're all pirate y and all that. That Osyra lady was horrible.

So that's why the repair droid was shown in the intro and in that tardigrade short. But they really should have foreshadowed it more.

Anyway, no time travel back. Maybe by s5 they jump back to the relative time frame of Picard s3.

Side thing but what Trek of Peter David should I try to look for? I love his comic work with its humor and such but I didn't get into watching Trek until Orville Lower Decks.

What're the essentials, in case I can find them?

The first four books of New Frontier are available in an omnibus edition, and the full NF reading list is here:

If you'd like to try something more stand-alone, he also did a bunch of books in the "Numbered" Era. My favourites are Q-in-Law (involving both Q and Lwaxana Troi), and I, Q (co-written by John de Lancie himself).

Right? With a season of Discovery you really have to learn that the journey is the destination. The actual destination is always awful. Just look out the windows and enjoy the ride some.

Sure.

Am at s4 e5. There's suddenly mini one shot eps in here. Feels like familiar classic Trek dilemmas.

Torn between the gravity of Book's planet and family being dead for real vs oh they were pulled to another dimension and everyone is alive.

Book and holo Stammets and grief counseling is stand alone ish.

Burnham and mom vs rogue ni var who was really saving people also feels stand alone ish.

Tilly taking care of kids is very classic Trek. If the pilot with them didn't die, would have been a fine adventure.

Ep 5 with Burnham vs the prisoners who were jailed for small crimes AND Stammets vs the incredibly arrogant scientist was very good for me. I feel like that a--hole scientist is what Brainiac 5 from the Legion of Super-Heroes would be. Like him in the comics but probably hate him in real life. Cool robotic murder bugs who throw chainsaws are a bonus. I liked this ep.

Ok, I'm currently sick right now and finished s4 and s5. Geez.

Btw, that gate thing that sent Michele Yeoh away was from TOS, the one where Bones was crazy and Kirk's girlfriend got killed?

Ending half of s4 with the DMA, I actually liked the part with the communication with the aliens a lot. Hard-core sci fi, even though there were too many people involved. Felt like The Arrival, with those giant hand aliens who talked with circles. That was amazing communication work. Good on this ep for that.

Arrogant Tarka considered Book his friend like Oros? I figured Oros and Tarka were intimate friends.

S5, do not care for Moll at all. L'ak is ok, if a pushover but Moll is toxic and idiotic at times and I hate seeing her on screen.

So this treasure hunt is based on the single ep of Next Gen where the found the origin of aliens? S4 s5? I remember thinking it was a revolutionary idea but they confined it to one ep. Should recheck.

Some of the tests were ugh. Too much emotion, not enough logic. The animals, the library, Oh well.

Saru and the ni var lady were very cute. Whenever Saru appeared before they got married, I thought he was going to die. Thank goodness he didn't, whew.

Oh the new number one guy, he was sorta fun near the end. Like for the time bug ep. But final season and all that.

Burnham should have taken the progenitor training.

Also it was actually sorta cool to see Breem without the helmet.

Ok, old guy Kovich is Daniels... the time traveller helper from Archer Enterprise?

Zora the ship is going to be sent on an alone mission so that Short where she dances with that black guy can come to pass? Wha?

So that's it? Discovery crew stayed in the far future where the Burn is going to happen?!?! Is this addressed anywhere?!? Like, nobody believes that the Burn future is going to be all canon, right? Right?

So it's just the section 31 movie I have to watch and I'm completely caught up?
