What do you get when you cross a Diaclone with a Transformer (which feels a little redundant, but bear with me here), and throw a Zoid into the mix? You the a product of Takara Tomy's T-Spark Synergex series -- Shield-D-Prime! To show how this brand synergy came to be, at least in a fictional sense, the T-Spark YouTube channel has released the following video: According to the end of the video, it looks like this fusion of Zoids' Shield Liger and Transformers' Optimus Prime (and I guess the Diaclone guys are just kinda along for the ride?) will be "rolling out" on June 5th. That's right, there's finally a Funko figure that doesn't have those "dead inside" eyes that only seem to work for certain animal characters (the Coca-Cola polar bears pull it off surprisingly well, for example). Actually, Funko has done other non-Pop! figures that are pretty neat, but I digress. Jumbo Chan Optimus Prime is a whopping 14" collectible figure, thus living up to the "Jumbo" name. He's also an exclusive that will drop on June 13th at 9am for a whopping $250 -- that's basically $17.86 USD per inch! We're less than a month away from the release of Skybound's Transformers Compendium, Volume 1 trade paperback, and -- well, "trade" is kind of a funny term in this case. At least, if you think about the word in terms of "trading" it to someone else. This volume encompasses roughly half of the original Marvel Comics run of what we now retroactively refer to as "Generation 1." That's The Transformers #1-46, as well as the complete four-issue The Transformers: Headmasters miniseries, and amounts to roughly 1,200 pages. So, you might be wondering, "Just how much is that? How tall is a book with 1,200 pages?" Well, to answer your question, we've got Simon Furman, with possibly one of the most Simon Furman-esque answers to the question, per the picture he posted to SMOKAT of his advance copy: As you can see, it's just under one Head tall. And yes, this entire post exists purely in service to that joke. Don't take this from me. I've had a long weekend. Says the man himself, "Now THAT is a doorstop-sized* read! #Transformers #skybound *Death's Head figure for scale, yes?"
