I got a couple, they were all blue in-package. I can't speak for all my samples, but Haywire3's definitely changes color to black with ice water and back to blue with hot tap water.
That said, the most recent samples I've seen in stores were a VERY DARK blue, not quite black. So, it's certainly...
If licensing wasn't an issue, I would be interested in newer altmodes like Alternators had. Not that complexity, but those vehicles mostly fit the characters pretty well.
Otherwise, I'd actually rather see Transformers with car and truck altmodes from the 50s and 60s.
The Deluxe Insecticons were not from Diaclone, but from a series called Beetras:

It would be cool to see the modern molds in their original Beetras colors, though I doubt those would be on the table for an actual release...
My nearest Target (25 miles away) only has Tiger Force Duke, but as of yesterday he was ringing up at $15 for some reason. If I can get over there and they still have some, I will see what I can do.
EDIT: looking like it will be Sunday before I can make the trek to the nearest Target, so hard to...

I would love to see the Legends/Core Insecticons reissued in the clone colors; I have the Deluxe Insecticon versions of the Legacy Insecticons, but the Insecticon trio only in G1 reissue and Legends/Core class size, which I feel works better for the group.
It does seem kind of odd; Amalgamous' implementation seems to be stealing Nexus' shtick. It looks pretty cool, and certainly unique, but it makes a person wonder how Nexus will turn out?
My son: "Hello. My name is Haywire. You killed my father. Prepare to die!"
Me, doing my best James Earl Jones: "No, Haywire, I...am your father!"
My son: "No! That's not possible! If you were my father, you would be dead!"
....can't argue with that logic!
It would be interesting to see what color packaging other contemporary toylines were using at the time. In other words, does Hasbro switch between light and dark just to refresh their own appearance, or are they intentionally trying to stand out from the packaging of competing toylines on...
