Not to dunk on the Dimetrodon convo, but isn't Shockwave's altmode meant to be a Spinosaurus? Based on one of the more recent reconstructions?

Yes. More recent evidence suggests that the Spinosaurus was a quadruped, which is what the Cyberworld toy is referencing.

And this does have the long, gator-y snout I've seen Spinos (okay, Scorn) depicted with, as opposed to the more snubby snout I've seen dimetros (okay, Sling) depicted with.

More recent evidence than that suggest that, no it actually was a biped.
Or at least Spinosaurus mirabilis (the newly described smaller species) was; it had proprtionally longer hind legs than Spinosaurus aegyptiacus.
Given all of these revisions and revisions of revisions... I can't blame Hasbro. They just picked one that was recent when development started and ran with it. It's all they could do.

I would just love to see the box they draw lots from or the wheel they spin to assign versions to characters. Partly out of excitement to see how they'll keep it going. Scourge the Ghost Pirate Ship, Shockwave the Spinosaurus. Blitzwing the Poolmobile? Grimlock the Bullet Train?

whatever it is, please give them the damn elbows and neck joints already

Seriously. I love Cyberworld's energy but I can't get past no elbow joints. I don't need much. Just a ball joint will do.
Honestly, AOTP Quickstrike has more ball joints in his cobra-headed tail arm that most entire Transformers lines have had in the past decade.
