Got classics Magnus down off the shelf for a little while because there was a mention of him in the repaint thread, and got Mach Alert down just because he looks cool.

Mach Alert and Guard Magnus.jpg

It wasn't really intentional in the moment, because it was more of a "focusing on what I already own" instead of "what else could I buy" moment, but they turned out to be a cool combination on my desk.

I'm looking forward to a new and good version of Mach Alert coming out in the future.

I hope your Mach Alert's clear plastic is holding up better than mine. Even in storage the clear plastic ball joint sockets just... Gave up. Remake this batch of bots next, Hasbro

Is this close enough? (sees blurry X-Brawn in the background)
Oh, the original was a great and favorite of mine at the time, maybe still.

I just meant that I'm not sure we're ever getting a new mold of him, since I'm not sure who they could turn it into.

I mean, I guess a one-off is possible. Maybe Super form if they do Prowl as well. (3-pack?)

Well, they do already have built in redecos, so that's one way to maximize the mold. I just hope they fare better than Side Burn did design-wise.

So far, so good, but this is my second copy - the first one didn't make it. I felt horrible when I broke the first one - I bought it from a now-defunct online store, it was legit imported CR, not RID, and when I broke it, I didn't have the money to replace it. I'm pretty careful with this one.

You mean besides the Super modes I mentioned?

I guess there were the Club and Universe characters...

Pretty sure we're referring to the same thing, heh. I just felt more certain about those being easy ways to milk the mold at least once.

But actually yeah, I do kind of want to see the Universe decos again. Except I can't decide if I want the kitschy tribal tattoo designs or the absurdly sized Autobot logos of the era. I don't quite have the distance from those to appreciate them yet.

Also idly wondering about some engineering-sharing for the hypothetical X-Brawn that would move the joint for the hood from the arm, to the chest, so a G2 Motormouth would be possible (the whole altmode would have to be reshelled, but they do share the back of the car becoming legs). Like maybe for both molds there's a panel under the hood block that folds down to be the robot chest, and the arm folds above the robot head for altmode; the main difference is for X-Brawn the hood block is attached to the arm (and has a fist folding out of it) and for Motormouth it's attached to that chest panel.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the RiD 2001 character that G2 Motormouth sharing a mold with to be Spychanger Ironhide instead of X-Brawn?

It's a hypothetical, mate. They make the same amount of sense. Just mentally replace one with the other as you read it and have a great day.

I'm just sayin', if you really want a good G2 Motormouth, there's a perfectly good Spychanger Ironhide option for him to share a mold with, without even any need of retooling.

And frankly, the Spychangers are in more need of an update that X-Brawn, anyway. X-Brawn's original toy is practically a flawless masterpiece.
