The focus on the III HD2D pushed me back into finishing XI and I've put hours into farming Metal slimes and now have all my team nearly at max level. Yet I'm annoyed that you can't finish everyone's character boards at 99 without seeds of skill. Rab is going to irk me with the few left to grind out.

I got XI physically but XI S via PS+. When I realized recently that it's no longer a part of the PS+ catalog I was rather disappointed. After all, I was post-game with everyone at lvl 99. It was my perfect save.

Fortunately it's at a pretty decent discount on PSN at the moment, so I bit the bullet and bought it.

Yeah, I remember being kind of annoyed that you couldn't unlock all skills by simple virtue of being level 99. I'd have to check. I honestly don't remember if I ground for skill seeds or if I decided to leave well enough alone. By the time you reach level 99, you don't really have much to worry about.

Right now I'm at work just dying to get back home. As whiny as I might have sounded in my past couple posts, I am excited to get into a new DQ game.

So I am enjoying DQ3 HD2D. I can't wait until I get to Alltrades Abbey so I can either change the name or the gender. But I am enjoying this.

I did take the difficulty down to Dracky difficulty not because Normal was too hard. One thing I love about classic JRPG's is that if you grind enough, you will get to the point where you're absolutely spanking the enemy. But in my limited playtime, it was feeling a bit too grindy.

But I am totally having an absolute blast.

Something I was beginning to suspect but just now Googled to confirm...you absolutely can not die on Dracky level. I may have to bump it back up when I get home. I like my games mild, but being absolutely unable to die feels cheaty in a bad way.

I finally made it to Alltrades Abbey and changed the hero's name to something a bit more fitting the avatar's gender. Smooth sailing from here.

I really hope they give 4-6 the same treatment. I still have so much love for V yet I'm stuck with my only way to play it being on my iPad.

I see this and I want it soooooooo bad. But it's $24 and measures 1.6 inches. Basically, I could balance it on my finger. It's tiny. And it's $24.

And finished! That was actually pretty fun. I'll give it a solid 4.5 out of 5. I can't wait to see what they do with I&II...though to be honest, what I really want is V. But this was honestly a really good game. I'm glad I got it.

Playing the 8th game and have the Ultimate Key.

When does Red join for the PS 2 version? Or will I play the entire game with my 4 main players?

Also currently had just beaten posesed Leon. So what to do for the next boss fight.

It's just those four in the PS2 version. Red and Morrie were added in as playable in the 3DS version.

Woot! Despite having it on PS1 and 3DS, I am looking forward to this! I never finished the game when I was playing it on the 3DS.

I think that we are more than likely to get a remake of 8 than 9. Surprised that we are getting 7 instead since its coming up on DQ8's 20th anniversary.

I'll admit, I'm a little confused about what this actually is. Is it a straight-up remake, or is it like the Final Fantasy 7 Remakes where they're changing the story around?

The actual website says that it's a remake. But, also says:

"While remaining faithful to the original story, the narrative of DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined has been enhanced to provide a more streamlined story experience."

So, I'm not sure what that actually means. I guess this is mostly the same story, just with less grinding or backtracking, is the idea?

Something to keep a eye on, I guess.

I mean, they changed the story from the original DQ 7 to DQ 7 on 3DS to condense it a little as it was overly long originally if I remember.

Also I'm still sad by 9 as it's the ONLY one we don't have a modern way to play.

Ohhhhhhhh don't remind me. But DQ VIII helped me keep some sanity during my second deployment.... 20 years ago.....

Why are we more likely to get a remake of 8? I know people don't like to hear it.. but 8 is easily available. 9 hasn't been on ANYTHING except the DS.

Somehow, I never realized this thread existed before. Never been one of my top-tier favorites, but I've been a fan since getting the original via the Nintendo Power promotion. I've got a pretty decent collection of the mainline games, though I never got around to picking up the NES version of III.

Been on a bit of a DQ kick lately. With DQ I&II coming soon, I finally got around to III HD-2D. Just about finished with it. Also been revisiting IX a bit. I had trailed off with all the legacy bosses at or near level 99, but never finished them all. Spent a LOT of time on that game. Also been wanting to get back to VII on 3DS. I never finished all the postgame there.

I'm a bit torn about what version of the new DQ7 to get. I mean, Switch 1 is the only one I currently have the console for, so I'm probably going to get it. But I do still want to get both a PS5 and Switch 2 eventually, and it feels like it's about time to make the switch from PS4 & Switch 1. I'd like to continue getting the DQ games on Nintendo consoles, since that's where I have all of them other that the original releases for VII & VIII. But SE appears to be all in on game key cards, and I won't be buying any of those. 🫤
