Honestly that box art just convinces me that MW Prime from one of the Laser Prime moulds wouldn't be half bad.The Machine Wars boxart situation always amuses me. With the effort they put into editing Laser Prime into Thunderclash, they could have just commissioned some new packaging art. Or you know, just slap some product photos there.
It's an old GameGrumps gag about how every haiku should end with "It's snowing on Mt. Fuji"...I'm still trying to figure out the Mt. Fuji reference from a page back...
That Fire Guts God Ginrai box will always be gorgeous. It's big enough that all the stuff in the front comes together, and it's windowless so their weirdly tight windows and thick borders don't cut into the design. The choice to just have the character art be its own shape helps a lot too; the Pretenders tended to want to have both the black stripe background and the pixel explosion and it never came together. This is pleasantly cohesive even before you get into the color scheme. Not toy pics, but I wanted to share some Transformers packaging I'd saved without clogging up @lastmaximal's excellent packaging retrospective thread.

Yeah, the US box and most of the US marketing materials just call him Laser Optimus Prime. It was always odd that the flagship toy for the gimmick dropped part of the gimmick's name, but not on all materials and not in all markets. But despite his still being called Laser Rod Optimus Prime in other markets and on the bio/tech spec card in the US, there were always some people who got all bent out of shape if you called him Laser Rod Optimus Prime, and insisted he must only be called Laser Optimus Prime.I didn't realize until recently that the box apparently just says Laser Optimus Prime. Because I've always read it referred to online as Laser Rod Optimus Prime.
