wonko the sane?

If trump invaded canada: we would call it an invasion. The subsequent beat down of the american invasion, trump would probably call that bullying.

Edit: of course, I'm also hoping that any order to invade anyone would either be summarily ignored by the actual military, or end up so compromised by only attracting trump loyalists and maga chuds that a real military response would be enough to stop US efforts.

Trump calls it bullying whenever anyone doesn't kiss his ass. It's very unfair how the world doesn't just bow to his whims, after all.

I'm sure that it'll get signed into law by the current governor. Someone remind me who that is again?

And I just don't think the framers expected a President that had no idea what they were doing and no intention of following the law.
Oh, they expected it, they just didn't expect congress to just roll over and let it happen. Impeachment was put in FOR THIS VERY REASON. We've added another method to remove a president from active duty since then, but it still requires the vice president and congress to do the right thing. Frankly, we should have never started putting the president and vice president on the same ticket. Technically the electors for the president and vice president are already separate and have been since 1804, just let them be voted on separately. Would have been funny to see Trump have to deal with Walz as his VP.

Minnesota is currently bowing to his whims by adding "Trump Derangement Syndrome" to the list of mental illnesses.

No it is not. Some MAGA idiot who got into the Minnesota legislature is trying to gain favor with the orangutan in chief. That bill is not going anywhere. The Dems control the Minnesota senate by a one vote margin and the house the Republicans hold by one vote with one empty seat. The Governor is still Tim Walz. Even if(somehow) it IS passed by the legislature, Walz will veto and they won't have the votes to override it.

The question becomes what other countries will call an armed invasion. Especially launched by a moron who openly talks about annexing other countries. Especially when the entire world knows at this point that Congress doesn't have the collective spine to go against him.

Regardless of what he calls it, sending in the troops for no reason other than Trump says so is an act of war, Congressional semantics be damned. And everyone paying even the slightest attention knows it.

He isn't talking about going and fighting little Central American countries. The Enemy Aliens Act just lets him skip due process in dealing with people from countries we are at war with. He says we are at war with a gang. But we aren't. All he wants is to deport people without red tape.

Ok. I just made an assumption that you were talking about what everyone else had been talking about. You changed the topic to invading Canada or Panama?

I would be very, staggeringly surprised if Trump started a war on purpose. He's been consistently anti-war in his political career and on this it seems easy to explain why he would be so close to having an actual philosophical conviction. Boil down everything he says about Ukraine and you get "Stuff is being destroyed and money is being wasted". He doesn't care about Putin's ambitions, he doesn't care about self-determinism, he doesn't care about freedom, he doesn't care about regional strategy/security. He even says the important thing is that so many people are dying, BUT he will still go along with it and help it happen if he gets mineral rights. It's all about the Benjamins.

I don't have the access to evaluate his mental health, but it appears to me that he believes he might be able to negotiate for control of Greenland, Panama Canal, and ...Canada. And it doesn't help anything that he's apparently provisionally negotiated for Gaza. Netanyahu appears to be amenable to Trump's plan. I'd like to know who talks to him about Greenland, Panama, and Canada and what they say. Anyone telling him that Canada wants to be the 51st state and that he can pull this off is a moron. He may be in severe mental decline and thought of this on his own. On the other hand, I can see people whispering to him that control of Greenland and the Panama Canal would be strategically important, but if they want to manipulate POTUS into taking those by military force, I think they did pick the wrong President (for them, I mean. Definitely the wrong one in general). He'll do air strikes. He did one in recent days, I think. Against someone with limited reach to retaliate. But I think it would be very hard for anyone to talk him into starting an open war.

I don't think I can agree to that. Trump's notorious thin skin seems to make him the perfect patsy to start a war. Just tell him they're all making fun of him and let his mind ruminate for a bit. Then suggest the tanks and tell him that would make them show him respect.

Every veteran should be boiling with anger.
Every AMERICAN should be boiling with anger over this, not just the veterans. Of course Trump has been on record stating that soldiers captured or killed are losers so it's no surprise his administration would do this kind of garbage.

Is there some specific reason this particular veteran's memorial has been vandalized in this manner, or has the department done this for everyone who's not a white man?

It may be that someone at the top is driving it and it may be that this is how someone further down the chain interprets a general order to root out DEI stuff in their department. When you tell people to do something dumb, people tend to do something dumb.

It could also be malicious compliance. Most of the people working there aren't new hires, after all. I know if I were working there and Trump just became my boss, I'd immediately make it my mission to interpret any vague orders in the way that makes the boss looks as bad as possible, without actually doing anything I suspect he'd disapprove of enough to fire me.

They've done it to everyone not a white man. They took down pictures of the enola gay because it had "gay" in it.

Maybe I am being semantic pedantic, but this isn't really sarcasm in a way that I understand it. It is just an empty promise repeated over and over. I wish a follow-up had been, "So did you not mean for people to believe it?"
