More images have arrived from Cybertron Con 2024 in China giving us a better look at some of the upcoming Age of the Primes toys. First we start with one of the 13 Primes we caught a glimpse of yesterday in box art, none other than Solas Prime! A bot that we've been seeing prototype images of for several weeks, Prima! The other we've seen a lot of, but never this good... Armada Red Alert! Lastly, we have a couple different shots of Superion. More images to come as they become available. Feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts on these upcoming releases right here or join in the ongoing Age of the Prime discussions here.
The Age of the Primes has begun! With Cybertron Con 2024 going on in China, we have our first look at the box art for the full first wave of the Age of the Primes toyline. Below are Prima, Wasp, Silverbolt, Air Raid, Slingshot, G2 Grimlock, Red Alert, Solus Prime (in both robot and vehicle modes), and Star Convoy! Discuss these new images in our ongoing Age of the Primes thread HERE on the forums! Join the Allspark today. Allspark Forums Discord Server X Facebook Page Bluesky Instagram
Straight from Cybertron Con 2024 in China, we have our first look at some of the upcoming Transformers: Age of the Prime toys that have been rumored for so long; Star Optimus (Star Convoy) Superion, and Armada Red Alert! Our best image is that of Star Optimus himself. Such great details in the head and chest. Notice the chevrons under the Autobot insignia! What a great detail. Unfortunately, the only images so far of the toys for Superion and Red Alert are fuzzy cellphone grabs. We hope to be updating with better images soon. Red Alert is looking like his old Armada self in this image. Most of us had already seen the leaked headless images, but at least now we can see his head in all its glory. Superion appears to use the same combiner tech as Legacy Menasor. Some fans will love that, others surely will not. What do you think? Feel free to reply with your thoughts, or join in the thread for ongoing Age of the Prime Discussion!
Break out the chili dogs! Below is our first look at the upcoming Sonic / Transformers crossover figures: Sonic transformers from race car to hedgehog in 27 steps, while Tails converts from biplane to fox in 32 steps. Come discuss these upcoming figures in our forums! Join the Allspark today. Allspark Forums Discord Server X Facebook Page Bluesky Instagram
Via The Mighty Mollusk, it appears that the box art for the HasLab Omega Prime set is upon us. Bask in its glory: For those unaware, the successfully crowdfunded set includes four Transformers figures: new molds of the Robots in Disguise 2001/Car Robots versions of Optimus Prime (nee Fire Convoy), Ultra Magnus (nee God Magnus), and Blue Bolts (nee Bluebolt, Magnus's gun that is now featured as a Weaponizer with a robot mode), and a repaint of Titans Return Emissary as Cerebros. This is all helpfully laid out for you on the back of the box: And for funsies, some stock photos of Alpha Trion's boys: Pics courtesy of Transformers Botposting on Facebook. Tell us all about your regret at not backing the campaign, your buyer's remorse, or your self-satisfied choice to not go in on this because you have all the originals down below. Eager to see more Transformers: Age of the Primes Prima? Well, don't lose your head, we've got you covered! Some new shots have emerged of The First Transformer, and they're of his alt-mode, at that, courtesy of PrimalxConvoy over in the Age of the Primes thread. That one might be a little mistransformed, though. Don't worry, we've got fresher ones. Ones with an untwistable energy processor! Now, that's not just Prime, that's Prima! Oh, and if you want a robot mode pic in these colors, but without a head and laying next to Earthrise Optimus Prime... well, that's oddly specific, but you're in luck! Now go on, you lot. Make all your "the first Headmaster as well as the first Transformer" jokes in the comments below. We know you want to. Join the Allspark today. Hasbro is currently facing a class action lawsuit by the West Palm Beach Firefighters' Pension Fund, over allegations that the company has been misleading investors regarding the quality of its inventory. If any of that sounds confusing, I'll try to break down the alleged chain of events here. In the beginning, there was the 2020 Covid Pandemic. Like many businesses, Hasbro faced a serious disruption to its supply chain, which would make inventory more difficult to get, or at least less consistently able to get. At the same time, a more welcome result of the pandemic was a surge in demand for Hasbro's products, as families were stuck at home with nowhere to go. Less supply, more demand. Hasbro compensated by drastically increasing its inventory, so it would have enough products on hand to meet this demand. Essentially, Hasbro leaned from "just-in-time" more towards "just-in-case" inventory management. The idea was to have more inventory than needed today, just in case they couldn't get enough tomorrow. What Plaintiffs allege is that Hasbro ordered far too much, far more than would be needed as the pandemic wound down and demand wound down with it, but Hasbro continued to represent to investors that this excess inventory was high quality and they anticipated being able to sell it. Allegedly these optimistic projections were knowingly false and misled investors as to the company's actual condition. Among the allegedly knowingly false representations is the following: It is allegedly knowingly false that Hasbro anticipated bumps in demand from big entertainment releases (film and TV, essentially) in late 2022 and throughout 2023, and they must have known that they should not have built up extra inventory in advance of any such film and TV releases. You can read the unabridged complaint here. We thank LordGigaIce on the Allspark Forums for bringing this case to our attention. It will be very interesting to read Hasbro's response to these allegations. Watch this space. Join the Allspark today.
Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks has told Bloomberg that they will no longer be co-financing films based on Hasbro IP. While Hasbro will continue to license its IP to other film companies such as Lionsgate and Sony, Hasbro is stepping out of the film business with the disappointing box office returns of Transformers One and Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Cocks, who came to Hasbro from Microsoft in 2016, was put in charge of Hasbro's card game, Magic: the Gathering before becoming CEO two years ago after the death of the previous CEO Brian Goldner. Cocks is focusing more on upcoming video games to try to "reach fans where they play" by ear marking $100 - $150 million a year to producing video games based on Hasbro's IP. Games mentioned were the upcoming GI JOE game, Exodus made by Bioware, and an unannounced Dungeons and Dragons game. No word on any upcoming Transformers video games, but stay tuned to the news feed to find out as soon as we hear anything. Want to interact with more Transformers fans? Things have not been going well for Power Rangers fans as of late. When Hasbro purchased the brand for $522 million back in 2018, things looked good to start. Their first series, Power Rangers Beast Morphers, adapted a Super Sentai show fans thought would never be, and used it to tie up some loose ends from a beloved series from a decade prior. They followed up on this with Power Rangers Dino Fury and the much shorter Netflix-exclusive Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. And, besides a 30th anniversary special which tied in to Cosmic Fury, that was it. There was talk of a new movie and/or a reboot of the franchise, but those plans apparently stalled out. Meanwhile, Hasbro has apparently divested itself of its toy-making responsibilities to the brand by licensing it out to Playmates, so they can do it instead. Still, hope persisted, as it usually does. That is, until the auction was announced. It was revealed back in October that Hasbro would be getting rid of all the various Power Rangers props, suits, and other material used to create the show for the past 30 years via Heritage Auctions. Three decades of television history. Japan gets a Super Sentai museum exhibit for their history, and we get an online auction for ours. Suffice to say, it's not been a popular move among fans nor the people who brought us the show, who were even explicitly told they weren't allowed to keep the jackets that had been tailor made for them, in at least one series' case. Via Gizmodo: And it wasn't even a charity auction, either, which would at least be in the spirit of so many of the characters people grew up with and idolized. No, Hasbro instead seems desperate to claw back whatever they can of their initial investment to reline their pockets, history and all others be damned. Well, fair enough, we suppose. After all, they are a corporation, and corporations, as you might have heard, are here to make money. So, how much money did they make? Well, if you somehow missed it in the title, here's a more precise figure for you, anyway: $3,310,929. Gizmodo highlighted some of the items which garnered a higher price. The highest bid of $87,500 went to the Cosmic Blaster (left), the combined form of the weapons wielded by the Cosmic Fury Rangers in what may be the show's final season. A slightly more modest $47,500 was put down for the filming miniature Astro Megaship (center), headquarters to the Space Rangers in the popular Power Rangers in Space series and fully capable of converting into the Astro Megazord (right). Other items that were on the chopping -- er, auction block included the Green Ranger suit worn by the late Jason David Frank in his role as the ultra-popular Tommy Oliver, which went for $30.000, as well as the original Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger's costume ($22,500) and Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger's costume ($23,750). Well done, Hasbro. 30 years of Rangers and the people behind them are proud of you for making back 0.63% of what you spent to kill the franchise, we're sure. If you're interested in what else was up for grabs and what it fetched, you can check it all out here, though you'll need an account to pull up the final amounts. Join the Allspark today. It has long been the stuff of Marvel and Transformers legend: When writer Simon Furman created the character of Death's Head, it was decided that Marvel should own the character, rather than Hasbro, the owner of the Transformers property, and to whom any characters who first appeared within the pages of that licensed book would belong. And so Marvel created a short, one-page comic starring the freelance peacekeeping agent called "High Noon Tex" to run in their other publications before he appeared in 1987's The Transformers #113, thus ensuring their ownership of the character. At least, that's what we were told. In the following video, Wixhael takes us through the early history of the character, statements from Simon Furman and Marvel UK Editor Richard Starkings, and shows why all the explanations as to how the character ostensibly belongs to Marvel don't really add up. What do you think? Is there more to the puzzle? Did Marvel UK pull a fast one? Is there more to the contract we don't know? Did Marvel UK even have to adhere to the same contract as drawn up by Marvel in the USA? Did Hasbro just say "Nah, you can keep him" behind closed doors? Or, as far as we know, should Hasbro be the rightful owner of Death's Head? Tell us your thoughts down below! Thanks to NovaSaber over in the "Random Transformers Videos" thread for bringing this to our attention! Join the Allspark today. Allspark Forums Discord Server X Facebook Page Bluesky Instagram
