@  Paladin : (26 May 2020 - 08:10 PM)

it's too hugging hot today.

@  -LittleAutob... : (25 May 2020 - 03:39 PM)

I'll agree with you on that.

@  Steevy Maximus : (25 May 2020 - 01:37 PM)

I'm actually sad Cyberverse won't get another season. 2 and 3 (of what I've seen) have REALLY nailed it in being fun little actions shows, like the Sunbow series.

@  Rycochet : (25 May 2020 - 01:00 PM)

Yes.

@  Maximus Ambus : (25 May 2020 - 12:52 PM)

I'm waiting for Animated season 4. Am I insane?

@  wonko the sane? : (25 May 2020 - 11:22 AM)

I'm waiting for the next season to show up on netflix.

@  Sabrblade : (25 May 2020 - 10:59 AM)

Many of us have already watched the rest of the Cyberverse episodes since the whole third season aired in the UK last September.

Already seen it online.

@  -LittleAutob... : (24 May 2020 - 09:42 PM)

Who's excited for tomorrow? The only thing that makes Monday worth it is the Cyberverse episodes .-.

@  wonko the sane? : (24 May 2020 - 12:30 PM)

Welcome. I just came into that trick myself recently, so happy to share.

@  Nevermore : (24 May 2020 - 12:05 PM)

Thanks, wonko the sane? for the tip with the cloning. That helped a lot!

@  -LittleAutob... : (24 May 2020 - 12:02 PM)

Heheh.... yes... I don't think a sniper would be very good at making a vaccine... 0.0

@  Nevermore : (24 May 2020 - 11:48 AM)

All right! Cloning my old HHD to an SSD and then swapping out the drive was successful, it would appear. Finally.

@  Bass X0 : (24 May 2020 - 11:30 AM)

Scientist Perceptor is. Sniper Perceptor less so.

@  -LittleAutob... : (24 May 2020 - 10:51 AM)

Perceptor would be more responsible.

He would!!!

@  -LittleAutob... : (23 May 2020 - 10:11 PM)

Horrible consequences? I... Doubt that would happen.

@  wonko the sane? : (23 May 2020 - 09:55 PM)

Even if he would come up with the answer by tomorrow.

@  wonko the sane? : (23 May 2020 - 09:54 PM)

I'd rather not deal with the horrible but unintended consequences of that.

@  -LittleAutob... : (23 May 2020 - 09:52 PM)

Lets let Perceptor make a vaccine for COVID-19. Who agrees with me :)

*watching everyone argue* O^O

@  fourteenwings : (23 May 2020 - 10:22 AM)

By that logic we might as well just get rid of the Shoutbox wholesale! I'd rather have like 3 or 4 things stuck for a week or so than one person dominating the whole thing (no offense Nevermore).

@  PlutoniumBoss : (23 May 2020 - 03:30 AM)

I would argue that "full of something one doesn't read" and "devoid of reading material" are functionally identical at the end-user level. :D

@  NotVeryKnightly : (22 May 2020 - 07:58 PM)

If it emptied, it would become empty.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (22 May 2020 - 07:53 PM)

It would be the same effect as if the shoutbox simply emptied once or twice a week.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (22 May 2020 - 07:27 PM)

I don't see how having walls of the same guy on top whenever I go to any page on this site is "refreshing".

@  PlutoniumBoss : (22 May 2020 - 06:10 PM)

I don't know, I find the occasional flushing of the box to be refreshing.

@  Telly : (22 May 2020 - 04:20 PM)

but its gets annoying seeing a wall of text from him that takes up most of the shoutbox

@  PlutoniumBoss : (22 May 2020 - 03:53 PM)

Eh, that's just Nevermore.

@  fourteenwings : (22 May 2020 - 12:11 AM)

@Nevermore: Good rule of thumb is if you feel like you need not just multiple statements but also multiple shouts to make a point, best just make a thread.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (21 May 2020 - 05:36 PM)

Dude, do you just, not know when to stop?

@  Nevermore : (21 May 2020 - 03:35 PM)

Instead of "I have only ten hours to get all my stuff from place A to place B", it's more like "I temporarily stored 90% of my stuff in easily accessible place C in my spare time, so now I have ten hours to get the remaining 10% of my stuff over to the new place before permanently saying goodbye to the old place".

@  NotVeryKnightly : (21 May 2020 - 03:33 PM)

At these point you two are just repeating what you already said.

@  Nevermore : (21 May 2020 - 03:32 PM)

Again using my "moving apartments" analogy. If you can store the stuff you don't immediately need for everyday life somewhere else, it reduces the critical time of permanently switching your primary base of residence over to the new place because there's less stuff to move when the time comes.

I couldn't get Western Union to work properly, so if the other guy fails to pick up the machine he's going to wait until I return to the States to sell it to me.

If not, no big deal. I'll just find another one later.

Sorry to hear that. How long do you plan on being in Brazil? Also, how hot is it there?

I found this link that might hint at what's going on with the cabinet's power supply:

I cleaned up the inside of my Cabinet a bit and photographed the inside to show what is going on. I used a floor lamp for some more lighting, and my PaS camera with flash on to get the pics this time instead of my iPad:

I just got back in from trying the paint removal trick. I laid down the thinner, and waited the ten minutes and started scraping.  It had a degree of success. The good news is that most of the black paint came off. The bad news, most of the underlying original paint came off as well. lol. It now has the artwork outline on it giving it a coloring book/sketch effect to it.  I kind of like it!  I have it sprayed down now with the paper towels sprayed on top of it. another 15-30 minutes, and I will go back and check on it again.

Well, I had a bit more luck in this stage.

Instead of scraping, I used a 120 grit sponge that I picked up in Home Depot today, and it seem to do a good job of removing the black paint without damaging the color underneath. There still is a bit more on this side, but I am done for the night, and I will pick it back up again tomorrow.

There are a couple things I can try to improve the other side:

1. Use a ton more Kleen Thinner. I thought that I put a good amount on, but perhaps I need to make the entire thing bubble up.

2. Wait longer for the Kleen. I waited a good 10-12 minutes after I finished applying it to start scraping. I might need to wait the full 30.

3. Use just the Lift Off Spray.

4. Use the sponge instead of the scraper.

Then again, with the age of the cabinet, and the fact that paint has probably been on there for 20 - 25 years, It could be that this is as good as it will get.

The interior of that cabinet is nice! Sooo clean. Good job. This is something I need to do to my SNK cabinets.

I'll be in Brazil for a couple years. I hope to be back by 2016. It's not so hot here. It's been in the 80s. (Although keep in mind that it's 'winter' here) I'm told summer here is like an angry God trying to kill ants with a magnifying glass, and we're the ants.

Thanks! I used a lot of Greased Lighting to clean it, and a small paint brush to dust it off. Then I just used the wet vac to clean it all out.

That is a nice set at a decent price, but it is sold out. :( I was thinking that one day I might get a set of these for it and go for a factory look:

http://www.gameongra...alaxian-sideart

And the control panel overlay and the kick plate art as well.

And I just got back from the Arcade graveyard again. Sadly all of the cabinets there except for the other Galaxian cabinet were generics. Even the Popeye and Donkey Kong were KOs or generics. The other Galaxian cab was in worse shape than I thought, as it was heavily modified and looked like it had been converted over to Galaga as well. It had a newer style power supply, a 25" monitor to replace to original, and a Galaga control panel. I was really hoping that the two Popeyes and the DK cabinets were legit, as I wanted to make a Wreck It Ralph MAME cabinet.

I did manage to get a Coin bucket for $1 that cleaned up rather nicely.

Being more cautious on the second side, I applied just the lift off spray this time. That being said, I did buy some different thinner just in case the lift off doesn't work.

I waited about an hour, but it didn't get much off by itself. The spots were it was rippling it seem to be working well.  So I applied another coat, and now I am waiting for it to tkae effect before trying to remove any more paint.

Ok, I switched to the plastic scraper, and just used the lay off, as I think that I had less paint on my cabinet and it was flaky anyways.  I got much better results!

This time the color preserved almost perfectly! I am being very patient and only lightly scraping the areas that are bubbled up, and that seems to be the key. I sprayed it again and I am leaving it overnight, and hopefully tomorrow I can finish that side!

Woot! My Order of the T-molding, Power supply upgrade kit, and a new power cord has shipped! I should have it by Wednesday, if not by Thursday at the latest. I am going to stop by on the way home and pick up some more supplies to finish up cleaning the PCB as well as removing the rest of the paint. I am hopeful that I can get that done, and get the Marque in tonight!

Well, I cleaned the boards, and tried to get the second side finished tonight. Sadly, the lift off spray ran out, and wasn't too effective in places. I did get a bit off the black off with the new paint thinner(this time I got the paste), but even doing it slowly a section at a time, it was still pulling off the color with the black. :( I have it on it's back now, and I will try to pick up some more spray tomorrow for the front.  Sadly, home depot was out Thursday night when I went back for more then. I will have to go to the other one close to work on lunch break tomorrow.

I also manged to get the control panel off and clean behind it. Then I carefully pulled out the bezel and cleaned it and the monitor screen beneath it. You need to be careful when cleaning the back of the bezel, as that artwork will want to flake off.  I also put in two LED bulbs into the Marque light sockets, and put the marque on!
