@  -LittleAutob... : (30 June 2020 - 05:55 PM)

x-x when in vehicle mode we can travel much F A R T H E R-

@  wonko the sane? : (30 June 2020 - 05:52 PM)

Because despite the fact that we can travel around the world in the time it takes to get a good nights sleep and a couple of meals: people rarely wander more than 25 miles away from home for the duration of their lives.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 05:49 PM)

I don't know how many days that trip takes - especially while sightseeing - but explaining they're 3936 kilometers (2445 miles) apart gives an idea, paradoxically because it is too large to easily picture.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 05:44 PM)

Aye.  When I catch lay people discussing miles and not how long the trip takes, it is in an attempt to stress how far away something is... like NYC to LA.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:20 PM)

But I can imagine 45 *minutes* easily.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:20 PM)

I can imagine a mile, it's a distance I've run. I can't really imagine 45 miles.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:19 PM)

I think there's also an element of the thing where things that are much bigger than us all blur together.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:49 AM)

If you're not, then you're more concerned with how long it takes.  Actual distance doesn't tell you that very well.  Besides traffic and road conditions, you'll need to know what kind of driving (city/interstate/rural/etc.).

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:47 AM)

Distance matters if you're being paid by the mile.

@  TM2-Megatron : (30 June 2020 - 11:44 AM)

Canadians are the same way, for the most part. If you're driving somewhere far, especially, it helps you plan out the day more than a distance in KM would.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:42 AM)

We use the time it takes to get someplace because that is what is relevant to us.

@  TheMightyMol... : (30 June 2020 - 10:55 AM)

Because even we can't figure out miles half the time.

@  Paladin : (30 June 2020 - 09:54 AM)

it's a big country with a lot of empty space. between our citizens' ears.

@  Bass X0 : (30 June 2020 - 09:52 AM)

Why do most Americans measure distance by hours of driving?

@  TM2-Megatron : (29 June 2020 - 07:26 PM)

And as a result the world's lone blu-ray release of the film, an Australian disc that came out 7 years ago, now goes for hundreds of dollars on eBay. Thanks Disney.

@  TM2-Megatron : (29 June 2020 - 06:21 PM)

Well, they censored Daryl Hannah's butt in Splash :rolleyes

@  Paladin : (29 June 2020 - 05:43 PM)

maybe New Mutants is too bad even for D+.

@  Steevy Maximus : (29 June 2020 - 05:00 PM)

X-Men films are coming to Disney+ next month. But will they censor Hugh Jackman's butt?

@  -LittleAutob... : (29 June 2020 - 12:44 PM)

Pft.

@  TheMightyMol... : (29 June 2020 - 11:59 AM)

Behold! Night Strike Galvatron!

@  Bass X0 : (29 June 2020 - 09:53 AM)

I will grant you a recolored body, and recolored troops to command.

@  Cybersnark : (29 June 2020 - 09:47 AM)

I don't want to be reissued. This body sucks, I wanna be updated.

@  Nevermore : (29 June 2020 - 09:43 AM)

I definitely don't intend to be reissued. Nobody would buy me.

Straya: Sander has the cutest widdle face! icon-silverbolt.gif And rescue pets are the best. I bet he loves you to pieces because he knows you've given him a so much better life than those kids did.

I just have to add this one. Falcadore took this gorgeous shot of Birdie while she was innocently nesting in his stuff. icon-fire.gif

This is my relatively new girl, Sienna. I've had her about 4 months and she was close to a year old when I got her. As you can see, she really likes boxes icon-fire.gif icon-depth.gif .

Well, Art is Art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water. And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now you tell me what you know.

Sander is definitely more sociable now than when I first got him, at least towards my fianc? and I. Most guinea pigs don't like the simple action of being picked up, so they'll usually scurry off when you try to grab them, but squealing in addition to that is usually a sign of pain, real fear or both. Sander's learned since living with us that being picked up the majority of the time means he's going to be cuddled, petted and kissed, so he's gotten to the point where I can lay on the couch, reading, with him on my chest and he'll lay with his cheek pressed to mine and stay that way for as long as 45 minutes or so. He's not real keen on getting his claws clipped after being taken out of his cage, but he trusts me enough that he doesn't turn into the Tazmanian Devil...unlike the other two, who aren't as passive and a little more independent. XD And I know that when you own multiple pets, you're not really supposed to play favorites...but Sander is definitely mine.

IPB Image

BTW, Birdie is a BEAUTIFUL cat. There's a lot about her that reminds me of Shiribot's cat, Molly. icon-hotrod.gif (Shiri also helped us socialize Sander when we first brought him home. She was still our roommate at the time and she used to spend an hour at a time sitting with him at different points his first week home. He would curl up in her lap in a towel and just let her pet his back.)

And Shad? Cats + boxes photos FTW! Aforementioned cat, Molly, has a real thing for boxes. She once crammed her front half into an Alternator box. ^^;

Sander - OMG THE HAIRDO! *melt*

And thanks icon-hotrod.gif I think Birdie's pretty gorgeous myself, biased mama that I am. icon-fire.gif I can never get her to look that good in pictures, though. Falcy's a far better photographer than he gives himself credit for.

How long have you had him? (Is it actually a him?) The appetite sounds like my birchir (she's somewhere in this thread)- she's eaten every other living thing that's been in her tank (oops). And what's a woodlice? A tick?

icon-fire.gif icon-fire.gif icon-fire.gif Oh, that's hilarious... And all the cute creatures!!! ::melts::

Ok folks, prepare yourselves for massive posting. I haven't been able to find more pet pics, but here's some of mine not too long after my family got them:
IPB Image
Yes, they were fast asleep when I dressed them up like this... I was young icon-fire.gif The grey tabby is Garfi (short for Garfield), and the brown one is Tora (Japanese for "tiger). They were brothers who a coworker picked off the street, but they couldn't take them with when they moved. Unfortunately, both cats have passed away, Tora in February of '05 and Garfi in May of '06, on my dad's birthday... I really miss these guys. icon-screamer.gif Tora was the curious adventurer, Garfi the scaredy-cat.

IPB Image
Here's Fluffy, 1/2 Shi-tzu, 1/2 Lapso Apso. A dog belonging to a family friend had puppies and we went to take a look... and decided to adopt the darkest doggie of the bunch. She's turned a lot lighter with age, and we often wonder if she's really a dog because she's very picky about what she eats. icon-fire.gif She's currently living with my parents and showing signs of old age, but still hanging in there.

Okay, now when I first visited TMM, the kittens were there... and I just had to take photos.

I tried to get them all, but they were just all over the place... And here's Junior, about 2 years later:
IPB Image
Don't let the calm pose fool you, he's a hyperactive big monster icon-fire.gif I took pics of his other pets throughout the various visits, but they either didn't turn out or I can't find them right now. I'm sure I'll post more later.

Their mother either died or abandoned them, so every cat in the litter was given a home and I took this one. She's three weeks old, and I'm not sure what to name her yet. I'm partial to either Pinky or Queenie.
