So Wizards continues their year of Cash Grabs with something both ingenious and completely stupid. Secret Lair sets.
Pretty much kind of sets similar to the Signature Spellbook series or such with 5 alternate art reprint cards with a couple of alternate art counters thrown in too each set will retail between 30 to 40 dollars. First big no thank you there.
But it gets worse they start going on sale only one day at a time only through Wizards own webstore. Supposedly unlimited quantities for that day, but again one day only. They have a bundle of all seven sets available for $200 as Well
Secret Lair Bundle (all seven drops) - 12/2, 9am PT, $199.99
Bitterblossom Dreams - 12/3, 9am PT
Eldraine Wonderland - 12/4, 9am PT
Restless in Peace - 12/5, 9am PT
Seeing Visions - 12/6, 9am PT
<explosion sounds> - 12/7, 9am PT
Kaleidoscope Killers - 12/8, 9am PT
OMG KITTIES! - 12/9, 9am PT, $39.99
And its that last one that kills me. They used OMG KITTIES! as their example. And its filled with adorable art work versions of Regal Caracal, Miri, Arahbo, and cute tokens and ahhhhhhhh.
I hate Wizards for playing on my love of adorable kitties.
Edit: and it gets worse! Bitterblossom Dreams is just Bitterblossom with 4 fairy tokens, Eldraine Wonderland is just one of each Snowland with Snow Eldraine Art, and Seeing Visions is 4 copies of Serum Vision each with unique art. That is some straight up greedy bs.
At least the others arent as bad. Kaleidoscopic Killers is a 3 card set containing Sliver Overlord, the Ur Dragon and Reaper King. All three are decent Commanders. Explosion Sounds is a collection of five Goblin cards but no legendary characters. Restless in Peace is a toss up. Its just Bloodghast, Life from the Loam and Golgari Thug. At 10 per card or more though it seems too steep. The only two I feel are a decent buy are the Kaleidoscopic Killers and Kitties!
There are times Sliver Overlord alone costs more than what this set costs. And well just Kitties!
Could of stuck an Ajani in though.
