I think the problem is they're making this in the post Transformers Hollywood landscape and trying to aim it at a wider audience. So awkwardly the 'kiddy' look of the original show has been substituted for what Western sci fi currently deems realistic. Problem being they're trying to apply that style to icons who used a different design language. Alpha came from the same place as Artoo and Threepio or the Lost in Space robot. You can't just reinterpret that into a nightmarish techno organic mess. They'd have been better designing a whole new robot and naming it Alpha Five. What they went with is the Alpha some kid woken up by a nightmare would have described to their parents in the 90s.

My only real issue with Alpha here is those weird light bulb eyes. Just give him a damn visor/sensor bar, whatever on that saucer head of his and be done with it.

Reminds me of a line from a D&D Let's Play:
(linked 'cause language)
"They're hideous abominations against anything you would consider good and holy, but you just can't stay mad at those tiny faces."
It's ugly. Probably one of the ugliest things I've seen designed for film. And that's an actual render. Not a crappy tie-in toy that we can excuse. That is legit what they intend for the movie. And it's ugly as hug.
On the other hand, it has big round eyes and looks just dopey enough that I can't help but find it adorable.

Ehhh...it's a little too weird for my tastes, but it's not bad.
That Echowarrior guy...

In other news, it looks like the BoA Ninja Steel Megazord toy will surprisingly have some degree of compatibility with some of the original BoJ Ninninger toys:
No, we don't all know everything but we should spread and share that what we do know.
If I'm consistently misspelling a word, I would want and expect people to correct me as should I imagine all decent people who know the value of good literacy.
Its just arrogant laziness to know you're spelling a word incorrectly and not correct yourself or ignore the advice when people do tell you how to spell a word correctly.

With those fishnets, bra and polished nails - I'd say he looks like a space hooker.
"Alpha, Rita's escaped! You know what you must do..."
"Ay-yi-yi-yi-yi! Not that, Zordon! Not teenagers!"
"What? No, Alpha, don't be ridiculous. Now go to your closet and get ready for tonight."
