@  B-Fox : (16 January 2018 - 01:33 PM)

metalhawk

@  Shrug : (16 January 2018 - 01:21 PM)

I love RotF Mixmaster, if that means anything.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (16 January 2018 - 12:42 PM)

Ehh.. when they get to complicated.. it gets annoying. PotP Optimus is decent. Rodimus pushes it just a little.

@  Locoman : (16 January 2018 - 12:32 PM)

Part of the appeal of Transformers for me has always been the mechanical puzzle angle, so I really enjoyed the ROTF/TF2010 line when that angle hit its zenith.

@  Locoman : (16 January 2018 - 12:31 PM)

I'm probably one of the few people who really enjoys complicated, fiddly transformations.

@  Steevy Maximus : (16 January 2018 - 12:14 PM)

Some were decent, but many suffered from that "collector mentality" where it just LOOKED good in both modes...but the engineering was complex merely for the sake of it.

@  Shrug : (16 January 2018 - 10:30 AM)

Huh. That's dissapointing. I had completely missed the Alternators and had just always assumed they were good based on how they looked in photos.

@  Pennpenn : (16 January 2018 - 03:34 AM)

I liked the Alternator Tracks mold. I think everyone agrees the Grimjack mold was just kinda shit even if you didn't care about it being Grimlock as a car.

@  Steevy Maximus : (15 January 2018 - 09:16 PM)

My local dept. store Shopko always seemed to get a few late run gems, like Blast Attack Optimus Primal and hard to find collection 2 Revenge of the Sith toys.

@  Steevy Maximus : (15 January 2018 - 09:15 PM)

Still wish I had snagged that extra Swerve I saw on clearance at Shopko, though

@  RichardT1977 : (15 January 2018 - 08:50 PM)

Smokescreen was the only Alternator I ever got.

@  Telly : (15 January 2018 - 07:24 PM)

i sold all my alternators last year

@  TheMightyMol... : (15 January 2018 - 05:27 PM)

Hound isn't bad, and, uh........

@  Paladin : (15 January 2018 - 05:23 PM)

there's only like 3 Alternator molds at most that still hold up...

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (15 January 2018 - 01:09 PM)

There were no shelfwarmer Altenators where I lived.. Cause no one ever got them in. x.x;

@  Bass X0 : (15 January 2018 - 12:57 PM)

I have Alternators Nemesis Prime since he was a shelf warmer here.

@  unluckiness : (15 January 2018 - 10:07 AM)

You wouldn't want to anyway

@  Chromedome113 : (15 January 2018 - 07:21 AM)

My first Prime was Alternators Optimus, I still can't transform him

@  Shrug : (14 January 2018 - 06:42 PM)

Ah. I'll try to remember that, but I keep forgetting "Gobots" the Autobot even existed.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (14 January 2018 - 05:02 PM)

"Gobots" is the G2 Autobot Color Changer.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (14 January 2018 - 05:01 PM)

@Shrug That would be "Go-Bots".

@  TheMightyMol... : (14 January 2018 - 03:16 AM)

At least you still had a big beefy super robot with giant guns.

@  JasperGunner... : (14 January 2018 - 01:47 AM)

My first Prime was Cybertron Prime. I was too stupid to know how to transform him lol

@  Shrug : (13 January 2018 - 11:15 PM)

My first Prime was Transmetal Primal. Second was RID Prime. My first Megatron was actually Gobots Megatron. I just didn't know he was Megatron for like 15 years. I often used him as "Roller" for RID Prime and I assume he's never really forgiven me.

@  Telly : (13 January 2018 - 10:39 PM)

my first prime was g1 prime actually in 1984. saw him at a store and begged my grandparents to give me my christmas money early lol

@  unitremover : (13 January 2018 - 10:33 PM)

Mine was Beast Machines deluxe Primal but I don't think I knew he what he was at the time.

@  Dekafox : (13 January 2018 - 09:32 PM)

My first Prime was actually LioConvoy... followed by Fire Convoy

@  Shrug : (13 January 2018 - 11:57 AM)

@Telly, but G1 Rodimus's vehicle mode is so durn sexy

@  LBD "Nyt... : (13 January 2018 - 04:30 AM)

PMOP was my second, and my first Optimus.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (13 January 2018 - 04:29 AM)

My first Prime was Power Master Prime.. And though Titans Return had Power Master Prime.. Power of the Primes feels more like Power Master Prime to me.

@  LBD "Nyt... : (13 January 2018 - 04:17 AM)

Still wanted Hot Rod too, though.

@  LBD "Nyt... : (13 January 2018 - 04:17 AM)

I had Rodimus Prime as a kid, he was the first Prime I owned, and I loved 'im.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (13 January 2018 - 12:27 AM)

At least he doesn't feel like he's about to fall apart in my hands like Masterpiece did.

@  Otaku : (12 January 2018 - 11:50 PM)

As a kid, I remember being confused that Rodimus Prime and Hot Rod had separate action figures. I thought there should be one that you could change between the "two".

@  Telly : (12 January 2018 - 10:59 PM)

'86 rodimus prime was a joke, even by '86 standards. it BARELY qualified as a transformer and his face was terrible

@  Bass X0 : (12 January 2018 - 05:05 PM)

He's leaps and bounds above the original 1986 Rodimus Prime, it's unbelievable. That's more of a criticism to 1986 Rodimus Prime's simplicity though.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (12 January 2018 - 03:14 PM)

Rodimus is insainly complicated at first though.

@  Bass X0 : (12 January 2018 - 03:07 PM)

I like to imagine that Orion Pax has his own Cybertronian vehicle mode even though the toy doesn't have it. It would be Orion Pax evolving into Optimus Prime, but Optimus Prime cannot turn back into Orion Pax (even though the toy obviously can).

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (12 January 2018 - 03:05 PM)

Orion Pax? Only into Prime's truck mode.

@  Locoman : (12 January 2018 - 02:22 PM)

Timeout. Does it convert?

@  Dekafox : (12 January 2018 - 02:06 PM)

You mean: *var mode

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (12 January 2018 - 01:50 PM)

*Sorry to be that guy, but *vehicle.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (12 January 2018 - 01:11 PM)

I love the leaders.. Just complicated! I am semi disapointed that they didn't somehow get Orions vehical mode in there though.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (12 January 2018 - 11:48 AM)

Possibly. Cause I didn't know how to transform his legs and was pulling the poor guy every whichaway

@  wonko the sane? : (12 January 2018 - 11:44 AM)

Maybe paladin just got the last one built on friday?

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (12 January 2018 - 11:42 AM)

Dunno about that... He seems pretty damn stable with as much as I was pulling and twisting.

@  Paladin : (12 January 2018 - 11:35 AM)

apparently he breaks easily. my interest has all but worn off.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (12 January 2018 - 11:17 AM)

Rodimus is more complicated than I thought.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (12 January 2018 - 10:57 AM)

I know I said PotP was Power Masters... But Prime -really- is very much desinged like the original PM Prime

@  wonko the sane? : (12 January 2018 - 10:46 AM)

And BBTS finally shipped mine! Will be another two weeks till they get here, but still! At least some good news today.

Wow the MtMtE solicit and cover almost gives me the shivers. That sounds amazing. And it features the full return of real Cons to the book.

That RG1 cover is pretty awesome too. Best piece by Wildman I've seen on this series yet. VERY excited.icon-hotrod.gif

-ZacWilliam, wondering if any of the five will be folks we know...

Also, no, I'm sorry, Turmoil has at no point ever been anything resembling a fan-favourite character. He's that murky guy who sort of appeared in that one issue.

They said they would do "corrected colors" in modern scenes but keep old style Marvel colors in flashbacks. It makes a sort of sense. Though I don't see why keeping Marvel colors throughout wouldn't have been easier/better.

Oh, and Turmoil was in TWO issues! So... Yeah, still not really a favorite.

-ZacWilliam, maybe this issue will make him one? Maybe?

I think if you added those two issues together and squinted, you could make out about one issue's worth of artwork. Murkity murk murk.

Remember when each TF had a special super power? (Yes, ok that was pretty much just 1984. But remember it?) Maybe Turmoil's power is Murk. That'd be pretty cool. He could be like the anti-Rainbow Bright, creating a field of murkity dark confusion to turn the battlefield to his advantage!

I'm all for advertising hyperbole but referring to Turmoil as a "fan-favorite character" is pretty much outright lying.

Hell referring to Turmoil as "a character the fans may be aware exists" is kinda stretching.

Depends on what forums you read. For example, if you mostly read the IDW forums, then Turmoil IS a fan-favorite character. Let's not be all TFW2005 here and assume that the entirety of the fanbase is right here and the folks who aren't here agree with us. There's a spectrum of opinions across the Internet with some localized puddlings of beliefs.

His appearances were in issues that (I doubt) sold over a few thousand copies.

I mean, in all honesty, the largest segment of "The Fandom" are the people who watched the movies and maybe have seen a few episodes of Prime. They probably don't even know who DRIFT is to say nothing of his one time Commander who showed up for like fifteen panels across two comics.

It would be just as disingenuous to call Sky Garry the "fan favorite Autobot commander" or Paddles "the fan favorite Dinobot" even if you could find fifteen fans who agreed with it; that statement is far from definitive on a fandom-wide scale.

On the other hand...it's just a comic book, I should really just relax. icon-hotrod.gif

Well, I've seen him on the show AND have him sitting on my shelf, so to my eye he bears a resemblance. I'm aware he's not an exact copy, but he looks more than a little similar.

He's definitely cribbing some design elements from Prime. The RID comic in general seems to draw from current or possible near-future toys, and that's a good thing.

What exactly are the criteria for someone to be a fan favorite? Like over on the IDW boards, there's about three people excited about Turmoil and he's barely been mentioned since the Drift miniseries when he last appeared. He doesn't get a tenth of the attention guys like Overlord do.

Its just a selling tactic, thats all.

Its not true but its really nothing to complain seriously about.

Just because you can't win doesn't mean you stop working.
