@  Bass X0 : (23 April 2017 - 12:22 PM)

I miss the 80s where the first time I ever saw Transformers toys was on the toy shelves and hadn't already saw the toy from every angle and in motion several months beforehand. It made seeing a toy in the store something very special to me that I can't recapture now.

@  Evac : (23 April 2017 - 12:14 PM)

I could see Generations becoming a TRU exclusive line, now that I think about it.

@  Xellos : (23 April 2017 - 12:14 PM)

Also, Generations weathered AOE, and the TLK line seems to be short as well, so I think we'll still be seeing some room for Generations.

@  TheMightyMol... : (23 April 2017 - 12:11 PM)

Titans aren't really wide-released anyway. About the only brick-and-mortar chain to reliably carry them is Toys R Us.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 12:08 PM)

Isn't Trypticon still a long way from now?

@  Evac : (23 April 2017 - 11:57 AM)

They wouldn't let a big-ticket item like that get cancelled.

@  Evac : (23 April 2017 - 11:57 AM)

Counter argument: They still haven't released Trypticon.

@  unluckiness : (23 April 2017 - 09:25 AM)

But yeah, not having any big-name media means it's the most likely, although the premiere series packaging might convince retailers to dedicate more shelf space, kinda like SW Black.

@  unluckiness : (23 April 2017 - 09:24 AM)

I'd expect Generations to be the sacrificial lamb since they can't possibly stock RID any less.

@  RichardT1977 : (23 April 2017 - 09:06 AM)

I'm thinking the subline that doesn't have a movie or TV show will be the one on the cutting board.

@  RichardT1977 : (23 April 2017 - 09:05 AM)

Back to TF toys: the question is whether or not retailers will be willing to commit the peg/shelf space for three sublines. And which one will be sidelined if space is at a premium.

@  unluckiness : (23 April 2017 - 06:28 AM)

No idea.

@  TheMightyMol... : (23 April 2017 - 03:40 AM)

Sometimes the Shoutbox takes a little longer to catch up to a new avatar.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 03:00 AM)

In the Shoutbox I'm seeing the pink thing instead of that guy with the weird eyes.

@  Telly : (23 April 2017 - 02:59 AM)

looks the same to me. maybe it looks different cause its smaller?

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 02:57 AM)

@unluckiness why/how is your avatar here different than the one in your profile

@  unluckiness : (23 April 2017 - 02:44 AM)

Revengeance

@  TheMightyMol... : (23 April 2017 - 01:33 AM)

Some people say revenge is sweet. Others say revenge is a dish best served cold. So basically, revenge is ice cream.

@  Verity Carlo : (22 April 2017 - 05:51 PM)

Retribution is fun.

@  LBD "Nyt... : (22 April 2017 - 05:39 PM)

'Sides, we all know the best G.I. Joe movie is Street Fighter, even if people haven't realized it yet.

@  LBD "Nyt... : (22 April 2017 - 05:39 PM)

I thought it was... okay. Okay as a movie, kinda fun, but not quite really feeling the G.I. Joe. I heard the sequel fixed that, but I've yet to see it.

@  Daith : (22 April 2017 - 05:26 PM)

Not sure about others but tried too hard to mainstream the idea to the public, making Baroness and the future Cobra Commander Duke's ex fiance and her brother was stupid and convoluted, and the power armor was a bit dumb

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (22 April 2017 - 05:14 PM)

What's the general opinion here about G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra?

@  BlackMax : (22 April 2017 - 02:55 PM)

In response to whether Arachnid Base or Orcanoch is the weirder.

@  Rycochet : (22 April 2017 - 02:37 PM)

When I find myself in times of trouble, small marsupials come to me. Chattering and hissing, wallabies.

@  Evac : (22 April 2017 - 02:17 PM)

ROCKO'S MODERN LIIIIIIFE

@  Foffy : (22 April 2017 - 02:07 PM)

Did somebody mention wallabies?

@  Telly : (22 April 2017 - 01:38 PM)

"Walls of 'bee". walmart will be changing their name during movie time. they will now be called "walbee"

@  NotVeryKnightly : (22 April 2017 - 12:49 PM)

I'm pretty sure even Hasbro reps have admitted that they went overboard with Bee repaints.

@  Rycochet : (22 April 2017 - 12:34 PM)

Parents/retailers want them, it's cost effective to produce them, therefore they get made. Walls of 'bee may not be what we want to see, but here we are.

@  Bass X0 : (22 April 2017 - 12:29 PM)

That still doesn't justify all the barely repainted Bumblebee and Optimus Prime toys in slightly different shades of their standard color scheme.

@  Rycochet : (22 April 2017 - 12:26 PM)

The movie toylines are a necessary evil at this point, they help us get nice things so I can tolerate them.

@  TheMightyMol... : (22 April 2017 - 12:19 PM)

Eh, I'm more indifferent to the movies than angry.

@  Evac : (22 April 2017 - 12:04 PM)

Also, I highly doubt that. Judging by how some TR stuff hasn't been released yet (including Trypticon) and they're hyping up PotP for next year, what I'm assuming we'll see is Generations, Movieverse and RID/whatever the next cartoon is running alongside each other.

@  Evac : (22 April 2017 - 12:02 PM)

I KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENED! IT'S OBVIOUS WHAT'S HAPPENED! I WANT TO KNOW HOW WE CAN MAKE IT UNHAPPEN!

@  Telly : (22 April 2017 - 11:45 AM)

you are reacting to movies toys overtaking our beloved generations line for the next 2 years. and yes it is

@  TheMightyMol... : (22 April 2017 - 11:32 AM)

Thank you background discussion of the screwed economy, differences between NAILS and non-existent infrastructure!

That is EXACTLY what this book needed to remind us of the totally new society trying to form from the Chaos here. Very cool. icon-hotrod.gif Hope there's more like that inside.

(The two NAILs who come to Wheeljack are fine, but they're the two "normal ones" again. Really I want to see the less "normal bodied" ones we see in the backgrounds get spotlight/dialogue too. Even more really. But hey, this is a big step the right way. )

-ZacWilliam, and ooh, new G1 Aerialbot based on a Minicon... Now did he live...

I sure hope Barrel Roll lived, it's unlikely, since he was probably just a new guy made to die, but he's the coolest Aerialbot I've seen to date.

I agree that's likely why he was added to the team but hey, I'll take it over my beloved Sky Dive buying it any day. And hey he does kinda have a toy: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Barrel_Roll so you can add him to your own team... as long as you do lots of forced perspective.

It was pretty cool of him to reach out to Dirge (even if he was naive about the Autobot's morals) so yeah I'd love to see him pull through.

-ZacWilliam, like seeing the Aerialbots as a team, it's been a while.

I really cannot stand the Autobots in RiD. Or anyone really. I mean I get it, war just ended, tensions are running high. I just want to shake each one of them and yell WHY ARE YOU BEING SO STUPID? I mean, Prowl using Cons as a police force, and killing one in front of civilians. Metalhawk constantly being a dick to Prowl. Bumblebee being dumb. Decepticons still trying to undermine everything, new arrivals just either being bungholes or rebelling for no reason except "we weren't decepticons or autobots, so why are Autobots in charge?" STOP BEING ZSATUPID bungholes.

?

What exactly are you finding particularly dumb about their behavior and actions? I'm trying to understand where you are coming from here...

Prowl had no choice but to use the Cons. The situation in DoOP meant he could either do that or watch the Autobots be torn apart by rioting mobs of Nails.

Bumblebee killed Horribul not Prowl but the book makes his state of mind and situation entirely understandable.

Metalhawk is being a dick because he doesn't like the Bots at all and blames them for millions of years of exile and the destruction of their homeworld. Very justifiable reasons for being dickish to them (and he also seems to be trying to Politic himself into power.) same with the NAILs they have EVERY reason to hate the bots and cons and want both gone.

Everybody's really been quite decently motivated and in character that I can see.

Do you just not like political strife, conflict and intreague maybe? Cause that's kinda the point of this book.

-ZacWilliam, folks have made bad decisions here but always understandable and justified bad decisions I'd argue

No, I see what you're saying. I don't disagree, everyone's motivations make perfect sense as presented, and I am enjoying the book. It's mostly Prowl. He is just making the worst decisions possible. Starting from the beginning of the series. Okay we have a race of war machines whom we have just beaten in a war. What do we do with them? Put nano-bombs in their heads and inhibitor collars on them. Surely this will help them integrate better into society. Also, we will use them as a police force, because they are known for restraint and understanding, and it's not like we can ask the new arrivals if they would like to help or any of the soldiers we already have. Nd then, when some people want to leave, I will sabotage their spaceship...because.

And then the NAILs (we made a new term which these people find offensive, we know they find it offensive, but even our political leaders uuse it in conversation). I get that they hate both factions. But. The planet, their home, was dead. They left, for 6 million years. The Autobots "sort of saved" it. They have "Marvel Public" levels of ungratefulness going on. Their idea is "Well, Autobots, thanks for doing whatever it was that revitalized the planet. Now please hug off because this is our home even though we abandoned it for millions of years and you have been fighting a war the entire time." And all Metalhawk does is say "everything you're doing is wrong. I have no other options, just do not do what you are doing."

My first thought on seeing Barrel Roll with the Aerialbots was, "I'm going color blind! The Red Shirt looks green to me!"

Interesting seeing Fixit among the Autobots. Considering the company he's keeping, I wonder if it wasn't supposed to be First Aid instead. Still, he wasn't one of Jhiaxus's murderous Micromasters from Revelation, right? I think the Rescue Team were among the few who didn't appear.

The universe is partially color blind, thanks in no small part to Transformers Universe. It thought Thrust and Ramjet were Dirge for a minute there.
