@  BlackMax : (23 April 2017 - 10:21 PM)

I really do like all the attention to the 80s toys, being from that era myself. However, I would be really happy if (let's say post Trypticon) the Generations line turns to the 2001 RiD line, Beast Wars stuff, and moves forwarda bit.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (23 April 2017 - 08:19 PM)

I'm curious because I'm not an 80s kid nor have I ever held an actual 80s toy in my hands, but I'm pretty sure a mathematically significant portion of 80s kids here do have a like for cartoon accuracy.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (23 April 2017 - 08:15 PM)

How much of this community favors versus not favors the current Hasbro design team's general trend of accuracy to classic 1980s toys and lack of attention to any other era of Transformers?

@  Telly : (23 April 2017 - 03:33 PM)

Re The Rise of Cobra: I like bad movies and action sequences involving elite ninjas, so I watched / fast-forwarded through it on Netflix a couple of years ago.

@  Fruitloop Mu... : (23 April 2017 - 03:23 PM)

Can anyone tell me why the Shoutbox has a notification (a "1") when I login sometimes? I scroll through and don't see anything addressed to me. What does it mean?

@  ▲ndrusi : (23 April 2017 - 01:33 PM)

I miss the 2000s when my local stores got new toys more than once a year.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 01:09 PM)

I mean, it might be hard to not know about something before release at all, but the degree of familiarity that you described is only attainable if you intentionally seek things out.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 12:59 PM)

That's at least partially your own fault. The "in motion" part sounds like you even watched videos, which require conscious effort, unlike pictures that might be hard to even avoid.

@  Bass X0 : (23 April 2017 - 12:22 PM)

I miss the 80s where the first time I ever saw Transformers toys was on the toy shelves and hadn't already saw the toy from every angle and in motion several months beforehand. It made seeing a toy in the store something very special to me that I can't recapture now.

@  Evac : (23 April 2017 - 12:14 PM)

I could see Generations becoming a TRU exclusive line, now that I think about it.

@  Xellos : (23 April 2017 - 12:14 PM)

Also, Generations weathered AOE, and the TLK line seems to be short as well, so I think we'll still be seeing some room for Generations.

@  TheMightyMol... : (23 April 2017 - 12:11 PM)

Titans aren't really wide-released anyway. About the only brick-and-mortar chain to reliably carry them is Toys R Us.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 12:08 PM)

Isn't Trypticon still a long way from now?

@  Evac : (23 April 2017 - 11:57 AM)

They wouldn't let a big-ticket item like that get cancelled.

@  Evac : (23 April 2017 - 11:57 AM)

Counter argument: They still haven't released Trypticon.

@  unluckiness : (23 April 2017 - 09:25 AM)

But yeah, not having any big-name media means it's the most likely, although the premiere series packaging might convince retailers to dedicate more shelf space, kinda like SW Black.

@  unluckiness : (23 April 2017 - 09:24 AM)

I'd expect Generations to be the sacrificial lamb since they can't possibly stock RID any less.

@  RichardT1977 : (23 April 2017 - 09:06 AM)

I'm thinking the subline that doesn't have a movie or TV show will be the one on the cutting board.

@  RichardT1977 : (23 April 2017 - 09:05 AM)

Back to TF toys: the question is whether or not retailers will be willing to commit the peg/shelf space for three sublines. And which one will be sidelined if space is at a premium.

@  unluckiness : (23 April 2017 - 06:28 AM)

No idea.

@  TheMightyMol... : (23 April 2017 - 03:40 AM)

Sometimes the Shoutbox takes a little longer to catch up to a new avatar.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 03:00 AM)

@  Telly : (23 April 2017 - 02:59 AM)

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 02:57 AM)

@unluckiness why/how is your avatar here different than the one in your profile

Revengeance

@  TheMightyMol... : (23 April 2017 - 01:33 AM)

Some people say revenge is sweet. Others say revenge is a dish best served cold. So basically, revenge is ice cream.

@  Verity Carlo : (22 April 2017 - 05:51 PM)

Retribution is fun.

@  LBD "Nyt... : (22 April 2017 - 05:39 PM)

'Sides, we all know the best G.I. Joe movie is Street Fighter, even if people haven't realized it yet.

@  LBD "Nyt... : (22 April 2017 - 05:39 PM)

I thought it was... okay. Okay as a movie, kinda fun, but not quite really feeling the G.I. Joe. I heard the sequel fixed that, but I've yet to see it.

@  Daith : (22 April 2017 - 05:26 PM)

Not sure about others but tried too hard to mainstream the idea to the public, making Baroness and the future Cobra Commander Duke's ex fiance and her brother was stupid and convoluted, and the power armor was a bit dumb

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (22 April 2017 - 05:14 PM)

What's the general opinion here about G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra?

@  BlackMax : (22 April 2017 - 02:55 PM)

In response to whether Arachnid Base or Orcanoch is the weirder.

ROCKO'S MODERN LIIIIIIFE

@  Foffy : (22 April 2017 - 02:07 PM)

Did somebody mention wallabies?

@  Telly : (22 April 2017 - 01:38 PM)

"Walls of 'bee". walmart will be changing their name during movie time. they will now be called "walbee"

@  NotVeryKnightly : (22 April 2017 - 12:49 PM)

I'm pretty sure even Hasbro reps have admitted that they went overboard with Bee repaints.

@  Rycochet : (22 April 2017 - 12:34 PM)

Parents/retailers want them, it's cost effective to produce them, therefore they get made. Walls of 'bee may not be what we want to see, but here we are.

@  Bass X0 : (22 April 2017 - 12:29 PM)

That still doesn't justify all the barely repainted Bumblebee and Optimus Prime toys in slightly different shades of their standard color scheme.

@  Rycochet : (22 April 2017 - 12:26 PM)

The movie toylines are a necessary evil at this point, they help us get nice things so I can tolerate them.

I don't want to talk about availability or distribution too much here if at all, as I'm pretty sure it makes anyone who wants Prime toys in the US want to go on a murder spree (or at least me icon-waspy.gif), so I'm just gonna talk about the quality of the toys.

Have you been pleasantly surprised by any of your recent Prime purchases (if you have any)? I have!

Legion Cliffjumper: TINY GOD. I've never had a tiny god; but now I know the joys! Only Legion/Legend class toy with elbow AND knee articulation. icon-silverbolt.gif

Wheeljack: friggin AMAZING. Shoulders kinda hinder movement, but otherwise pure love.

FE Bulkhead: Wow. Pure WOW.

Soundwave: the Perfect Transformer. I've never said that about ANY TF I've EVER owned. But I believe Soundwave to be it. If he had lightpiping, it would have been more perfecter, but otherwise, PERFECT. icon-silverbolt.gif

Anyone else have any encounters with a Prime toy(s) that made you squeal in delight?

Cyberverse Ratchet was a really cool little toy. Neat enough that it was actually hard to go through with repainting him as Fixit and that was the entire reason I bought him.

And while I actually think the repaint came out really, really good, part of me still regrets having done it and is considering getting another.

I have NYCC Bee, FE blue Arcee, FE Dlx Prime, FE Starscream, FE JP Bulkhead ($60 bbts), Rid Wheeljack, Rid Cliffjumper.

So far I love them all, with FE Bee being the weakest due to his fidly arm transformation limiting poses.

I was willing to drive an hour to get a single remaining F.E. Prime, and man was it worth it. Maybe it'll fade but he's almost my favorite transformer ever at the moment. He's like the Sum of All Primes. Looks good no matter what the pose or mode, especially after the head mod. Even just standing neutrally he radiates hefty personality.

Same with deluxe Starscream. It is literally impossible to put him in a robot pose that doesn't embody his character.

That's what I love about these guys, really. They managed to put so much personality into them, without resorting to Animated's hyper-stylized look in the process (not that that was bad either).

I've really been happy with my Prime figures so far. I dunno if I'm 'pleasantly surprised' as that implies that I didn't expect them to be good before I got them. I mean, half the reason I paid through the nose (and far less pleasant regions) to get the FE Molds is because I was expecting them to be really good.

But I will say that they've been a lot better in general terms than I expected. A lot of the stock photography and early fan pictures I saw of them were either slightly or seriously miss-transformed, making me wonder just how good they would actually be. Bulkhead, for example, makes a much better rotund 'bot that some of his early pictures made it look. I also was pleased to see that Cliffjumper had little pegs on his headlights that helped hold his chest together and make it look less boxy.

I dunno which one I'm the most happy with... there are aspects of each one I really love. Bulkhead and Cliffy both get major points for near-cheat-less transformations and high show accuracy.

FE Arcee is just okay.
FE Bumblebee's good.
FE CLiffjumper and Starscream are freaking awesome.
Wheeljack is probably the most fun to play with out of the lot, though.

Transformers is a brand that really has something for everyone. We are a darn lucky fandom.

NYCC Arcee stands with her other Arcee motocycle sisters and it makes for a great display
FE Cliffjumper has some planel massageing issues but going from car to robot is fun as heck
PRiD Optmus Prime reminds me of Acton Master Prime in truck mode and has a pleaseing transformation

I love Wheeljack. Such a neat little car, fun transformation, and great look.

Cyberverse Cliffy is very nice. All that articulation. Too bad he sets an unrealistic bar for the rest of the line.

Soundwave is really cool, and laserbeak integrates so very well.

Do you transform them all the way? So the shoulders turn outwards instead of just hanging underneath the wheel wells like the instructions tell you to do?

FE Arcee is really bulky in her altmode and WAY too big, but she's pretty sweet.
FE Bee is really fiddley, but looks really nice once you get all his parts in place.
FE Cliffjumper is just pure love.
And if FE Cliff is pure love, then FE Bulkhead is pure sex!
FE Screamer is really nice but WAY too small. An almost perfectly screen accurate figure.
FE Prime is perfection!

The only thing that could make any of them better is weapon storage. Most of them have little to no spots to stow their weapons in robot mode.

It's not really a mod. Just that Prime doesn't have his head snapped tightly onto the balljoint. The socket's molded in a weird way that makes it feel like it's snapped in place when its not.

Fully snapped in place, he can look up and down, and the head doesn't pop off as easily.

Also, it fixes some minor clearance issues inside the truck cockpit, so the roof/windvane closes up flush, rather that popping up a slight bit.
