@  Kalidor : (22 October 2020 - 06:43 PM)

What did it look like?

@  Donocropolis : (22 October 2020 - 01:34 PM)

I swear I remember getting the Happymeal G1 minibot as a child, but I live 2.5 hours from St. Louis, which is the only place they apparently came out. It's possible that I got it on a family vacation, though, as we went to Six Flags pretty often.

@  ▲ndrusi : (22 October 2020 - 01:07 PM)

Conversely, I had the Gobot helicopter from Wendy's and I was absolutely convinced it was an actual Transformer.

@  Donocropolis : (22 October 2020 - 08:13 AM)

I used to rubber-band Hot-Wheels style construction vehicles together and pretend it was Devestator.

@  Bass X0 : (21 October 2020 - 05:26 PM)

When I was about four years old, my parents bought me Bugbite and tried to tell me it was Bumblebee. I was not yet a fan of Transformers, but I knew that wasn't Bumblebee. I didn't even have the real Bumblebee at that time.

@  Maximus Ambus : (21 October 2020 - 01:39 PM)

It would come with two soundtracks: the eighties classic and one featuring dubstep and the VAs are popular Youtubers.

@  wonko the sane? : (21 October 2020 - 12:13 PM)

But yeah, reading it: I came off as a bit of an ass.

@  wonko the sane? : (21 October 2020 - 11:52 AM)

I just couldn't think of worse music than disco...

@  NotVeryKnightly : (21 October 2020 - 11:35 AM)

What were you trying to imply with the mocking sarcasm, though? Nobody suggested that '80s music was any more "of it's time" than '70s music.

@  wonko the sane? : (21 October 2020 - 11:18 AM)

I said that disco wouldn't fare much better with the same context: media is property of it's time; biases, culture and limitations are all inherent in that. Some stuff can be brought forward because of an inherently timeless nature or the simplicity with which it was made but lots of media is a time capsule of the period of when it was made.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (21 October 2020 - 08:46 AM)

I'm not sure what you're trying to imply, or what you even think I said.

@  wonko the sane? : (21 October 2020 - 08:11 AM)

Yeah, cause disco would make the transition so much better...

@  NotVeryKnightly : (21 October 2020 - 07:17 AM)

I feel the '80s music would be jarring when running over current-day CGI instead of well, '80s visuals.

@  Maximus Ambus : (21 October 2020 - 05:39 AM)

Not a remake, reanimated scene for scene, like that fan vid titled they were always real to me.

@  TheMightyMol... : (21 October 2020 - 04:37 AM)

Because we need more remakes these days.

@  Maximus Ambus : (21 October 2020 - 01:36 AM)

Be a hoot if these Studio Series 86 toys led to Transformers The Move Reanimated like Pokemon Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.

@  Paladin : (20 October 2020 - 05:15 PM)

@  Kalidor : (20 October 2020 - 04:54 PM)

5 pounds is a lot of cereal! /deadpan

@  Maximus Ambus : (20 October 2020 - 02:32 PM)

Seems the area near my work place is due to be gentrified. Electric car ports, fifty pound haircuts and five pound bowls of cereal in breakfast cafes I'll bet.

@  Steevy Maximus : (19 October 2020 - 11:31 PM)

@ZakuConvoy Lumines Electric Symphony. So still halfway interesting, and it’ll play on the PS TV

@  Demovere Xeno : (19 October 2020 - 10:36 PM)

@Maximus: I paired the Battle Patrol with Ironworks and they look good together, though the Off Road Patrol would probably fit best as vehicles you're likely to find at a construction site.

@  ZakuConvoy : (19 October 2020 - 09:39 PM)

So...was it something like Tearaway or Gravity Rush or was it just a FIFA or a Madden?

@  Steevy Maximus : (19 October 2020 - 04:09 AM)

My local Walmart FINALLY got a restock of Generations during the early September reset and got a big shipment of Earthrise wave 1 (the first I’d seen around here). IF, and that’s a big IF, they restock I’m expecting a bunch of wave 3. Or wave 2. But we’ll be skipping one of those waves.

@  Steevy Maximus : (19 October 2020 - 04:08 AM)

Barricade hanging around

@  Steevy Maximus : (19 October 2020 - 04:08 AM)

Brunt barely appeared here at all, wave 3 was pretty much skipped for a big load of wave 4, with Impactor and

@  wonko the sane? : (18 October 2020 - 10:13 PM)

Brunt is shelfwarming around me. One walmart moved the whole lot of them off to a side shelf, but couldn't be added to liquidate them.

@  unluckiness : (18 October 2020 - 09:01 PM)

Ironworks is a plague. No idea if it was overproduced or if nobody wants it but thing's clogging shelves.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (18 October 2020 - 04:23 PM)

My walmart the few times I go in will be lucky to have two or three transformers period.

@  TheMightyMol... : (18 October 2020 - 10:29 AM)

I mostly just see walls of Ironworks. And the occassional Siege Hound.

@  Paladin : (18 October 2020 - 08:44 AM)

condolences.

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2020 - 08:40 AM)

My local Symths is still chock full of Earthrise wave 1.

@  wonko the sane? : (18 October 2020 - 08:24 AM)

Yup, generally so much they don't bother with any other waves as the existing stock doesn't sell out.

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2020 - 07:56 AM)

All the damn time.

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2020 - 07:56 AM)

If there's anything there's going to be plenty of stock, it's wave 1.

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2020 - 07:56 AM)

I'm really not worried about wave 1 of a new line EVER.

@  wonko the sane? : (18 October 2020 - 07:47 AM)

At least you got listings for kingdom. walmart canada won't list them until they're actually in stock and that could very well never happen. I'm gonna get mine from BBTS cause I'm not missing out on the maximals.

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2020 - 07:32 AM)

And I don't buy the "they all sold out" explanation. The Kingdom figures are still listed.

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2020 - 07:32 AM)

I don't see any of Friday's reveals at Walmart.

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2020 - 07:23 AM)

There's a difference between "sold out" and "no trace of a listing".

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2020 - 07:23 AM)

There is still a listing for the scalped and sold out Walmart exclusive limited edition version of Gigawatt.

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2020 - 07:22 AM)

But there should still be a listing.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (18 October 2020 - 06:30 AM)

Probably got scalped and sold out in seconds.

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2020 - 04:10 AM)

And I don't see links anywhere either.

I was disapointed by the latest ep of SAO, I wanted to see what Kittro & Asuna were up to more than we got instead we got a ep that was more talk than anything, generally I think SAO biggest problem is how to end the story, I was disapointed by the series first arc ending or at least the main bad guy of that, he setup to be someone who crazy enough to trap thousands of people in a VR game world and them only having a single life, but he revealed to be right in front of us and a rather unwheming fight, he should of just used his admin powers to get away and the story could futher explore the SAO world and his motivations instead of providing them a lot furrier down the line.

Anyway, just watched the latest ep of Mistfit of the Demon Lord Accdemy, desent ep thou its cast of characters aren't really being pushed but then the central character is one of the most overpowered Demon Lords to exist in anime, thou he has a chill nature to him!

That's true, but I've always thought the scenery and staging as SAO was shutting down is one of the best things I've ever seen in anime.

I'm surprised that this year I've had two shows that I like enough to call favorites; LISTENERS and DECA-DENCE were both really ambitious and a great way to spend a half-hour every week.

Just finished DECA-DENCE, nice ending to a desent series, thou that ending might of been a tadded rushed but then the story was mostly about Natsume & Kaburagi's relationship which was the heart of the story, while the series is not the best in the world, its the best this season had to offer, if anything, I would say its ending was better than Sword Art Online Alicezation series ending, that was just underwhelming and kind of ticked me off because they failed to capalise on the two leads being stuck in Underworld for 200 years!

its the best this season had to offer

I mean in a general sense, probably, to some degree?

The ending left very little impact, because the climax, the ending, and the epilogue each had their own tone and the ending was way too short to link the other two.

Spoiler

Lapis Re:LiGHTs would have it beat if it also hadn't veered off course in the second half of the last episode.

Well crud, I didn't realize today's episode of Re:Zero is a Mid Season Break finale. I must admit this arc with the Witches is kinda annoying me but that's the whole "Return by Death" thing in a nutshell anyways. Learning more of Roswal's own motives is interesting though. But I was kinda hoping for resolution on this arc sooner than later.

Likewise I figured we were about to get the conclusion to Fruits Basket the way things had been rolling and what I've read up on on Wikipedia. But another season to finish things. I'm only going to complain that I WANT IT NOW!.

Otherwise I'm glad the two Rom-coms I watched this season are confirmed to continue. "Uzaki-chan wants to hang out" was just cute and thankfully didn't focus on Uzaki's bust the entire season. Though the constant cat themes make me want more "My Roommate is a Cat" now. And Rent-a Girlfriend just sounded wrong to begin with but other than one blond haired demon ex I enjoyed the fun times with the other three girls even if the lead character looks like Ichigo's down on his luck Cousin.

This next season seems like a round of new seasons or the glorious return to the Fudal era. Yasha-Hime starts Saturday! Thoough some of my further choices make me feel like a Jiraiya with stuff like "Is it Wrong to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon" Season 3

Looks like the Wandering Witch anime starts with the chronologically earliest chapter from volume 1, and not the actual first chapter.

I hope the anime adapts some of the darker chapters.

Just watched the first ep of Talentless Nana, it spends a lot of time with one male character until a unexpected plot twist at the end of the ep, the question is how will the series handle things going forwards??

They're bringing back Shaman King! Holy cow!

I just realized that it's practically JoJo but with kids and spirits instead of Stands. But the deaths are still there. I can't believe they killed kids in it.

I did collect the manga books of Shaman King but they never actually completed the story with the English translated books, I believe there is three books that never got offical translations and releases, until a few months ago they put them online but I like to have the manga books in hand, thus I haven't read them! Shaman King did have a good openning theme back in the day, those were the days animes when dubbed over got more original English songs, for example, Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-gi-oh! got a strange haunting theme that picks up into quite the beat, these days I believe its just the standard Japanese openning those some do get English dubbed songs of them, but then these days I don't really go for dubbed anime, I prefer it subbed in its original language. Back then these sorts of shows popped up on TV and I began watching them because they were cool and far more intersting than other stuff, thou since then, I stopped with Pokemon when I realised the show wasn't really going anywhere, Yu-gi-oh! I watch when a series actually intersts me, the current series hasn't gripped me so not watching, Digimon I am watching, its far superior to Pokemon in terms of story, another series I did watch when I was younger and it was on Fox Kids UK, Technoman better known as Tekkaman Blade, it had a altered openning like many dubs of the time, thou not to a song but more a narration with awesome music, then there is One piece, the 4kids dub may not been great by many people's standards but it did grab my attention and now I'm hooked on the series including the manga!

I'm getting old, when you realise how far kids TV has fallen and you no longer really intersted because most of it looks stupidy cheep or uninspired!

Kids's anime has looked cheap for a long time. Look at how much the original Digimon Adventure relied on stock footage, for example.

YES! Completely agree! Epic is the right word to describe it. They did a great job for a US opening. Very mystical and legendary but also adventurous and hopeful.

I especially love the part when they start the next verse even before they fade the 'wildest dreams' part.

The only problem with the intro is the visuals. While they look great and fit in, they used minor scenes from the show. Like the guy throwing snake blasts looks good but he was in the show for a few seconds because he was an enemy Rio faced and defeated to get qualified. There were better enemies who were more deserving to be in the intro than him.

The Japanese second opening Northern Lights is better than the first opening too.

I do like Shaman King.  Even though, I feel like it has a tendency to kind of just...get bored in the middle of storyarcs and wander away into something else.  (Much like how Yoh acts).

And it can be...delightfully odd sometimes (the truth behind the Archangels, for example).  And the True Ending/Kang Zeng Bang has got to be one of the more unique endings in a shonen manga.

Shaman King is just really unique in a lot of ways.  It takes some of these shonen manga cliches and does some different things in them.  It still follows a lot of those same tropes, but it does things differently enough to be memorable.

Just been watching the second ep of Akudama Drive, honestly, I love the setting, the use of colours in this anime is great, its so far a major departure from a lot of other sci-if worlds where its mostly modern day look or dark and gloomy. The story is kind of all over the place in someways and the cast of characters you follow are actually criminals but they each have code names and you don't know what their real names are but some of these people are plain crazy on top of destructive, this could be a wildride of an anime this season depending how it pans out!
